Book Description

A dark thriller by the #1 bestselling author
A VILLAGE IN TERROR, A KILLER ON THE LOOSE, AN AUTHOR LOOKING FOR HIS NEXT BESTSELLER. IS THERE A CONNECTION?
After the grisly discovery of a mutilated body, the small community of Greenville is held in the terrifying grip of a serial killer.
Author Jason Denton immediately falls under suspicion, and while Sergeant Underwood is determined to prove his guilt, no matter what how he has to do it, the relatives of those being killed aren't so keen to wait for justice.
Caught in the middle is Donna Harp, a young constable partnered with the sergeant. She isn't convinced the author is guilty, and is determined to catch the killer, whoever he may be, but is she being swayed by Denton's charm?
Includes the bonus short, Lauren's Nightmare, and a preview of my scifi adventure, A Brother's Debt.
Also available

5.0 out of 5 stars A good story, a good read. Recommended March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Okay, where to begin... I have read this in three days in several short stints, and as I usually do, I have read all of the other reviews before placing my own.

This is a very good story, which is delivered well and with a good level of competance. Yes, there is a lot of emphasis on the violent side of the book, and the reader may ask themselves, from time to time, why it was necessary for the level of gratuitous language used by the author. I even found a couple of missing words and a couple of typo's, but in the grand scheme of things, once you get into the story itself and ALLOW the characters to develop (which does involve a little work by the reader - as it should) this really is quite a page-turner.

I'm not going to rave on about world-class writing. This isn't a brilliantly written book that is going to set your world on fire, but it IS a well-written piece of work which is definitely worth the time to read, and if you want a 'realistic', down-to-earth, crime thriller, this has to be worth a punt.

The desriptive work is good, and although I personally would have liked a little more insight into the killer and the motives in the early stages of the book, there was enough there to keep my interest and keep the various mini-plots flowing quite nicely. In addition, although the ending seems to come too soon, leaving you with a few questions unanswered, this doesn't really detract from the work as it is easy to bring enough imagination into play to come to your own conclusions.

It's as near as dammit to a 5-star read, so 5 it is! Well done Mr Jones. I look forward to reading more of your work.

2.0 out of 5 stars poorly developed March 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although I enjoyed the concept of the story, there were places where it seemed the author just threw things in and left them hang. For instance the medical examiner mentioned that he got good prints off of a body and they should be easy to match. Yet, that is that last time we hear about them and we are still waiting for dna results.
And there never is a clear conclusion to the story. It just kind of ends in mid air.
Might be time for the author to do a rewrite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great whodunit September 15, 2012
By Cher
Format:Kindle Edition
Shattered is a great crime novel from start to finish, with excitement and intrigue; a good old fashioned whodunit. One thing I would have liked more is if the author had written more about what was going on in the killer's head. I really enjoyed the characters and I'm hoping to see Jason Denton and Donna Harp again. I was surprised to find this was the author's first full length novel and I'm looking forward to reading his other works.

More About the Author

Although he's travelled the world, and seen much of life, Jones prefers to be sat in the quiet of his home with his laptop, writing.
His fictions are set in places which mirror his homeland, and much of his inspiration is drawn from his surroundings. Karl draws on his teen years in Bournemouth, with its quiet village-like suburbs, and bustling town centre, and he uses these settings to bring his books to life.
His thrillers stem from the darkest depths of his mind, however, his tales of space stretch further than your imagination can take you, and you find yourself spiralling out of control into the imaginary universes he creates as you turn the pages faster than warp-speed in order to delve further into his story.
With a bibliography which spans many genres, including amongst them thrillers and romances as well as tales of the paranormal, you're never going to be short on choice for reading material, because never sleeping, Karl writes from dusk 'til dawn, and occasionally even through 'til morn' to bring his eager readers the latest instalments from his sought-after, bestselling stories.
