From the Back Cover

Brentan Montgomery, Earl of Charfield, has one love - his stable of Arabian horses. When he is offered breeding rights to the Marquess of Fellingsdown's prize Arabian, El Solidar, if for two weeks he acts as companion to Fellingsdown's sister, he doesn't care if the reclusive Lady Elyssa has three chins and a dozen hairy moles, the prize at the end is worth anything he has to endure. But when he meets the elusive Lady Elyssa Prescott, all thoughts of gaining a prize Arabian colt disappear. He realizes he's met the woman of his dreams - if only he can keep her from discovering the deceit that brought them together and convince her that her imperfections don't matter to him.

Lady Elyssa Prescott knows what it's like to be ridiculed and shunned. But when Brent Montgomery lets her glimpse a world where her limitations aren't important, she believes it's possible for her dreams to become a reality. Until she discovers the man with whom she's fallen in love was 'hired' to offer her everything she's always dreamed of having.

The cruel reality of a love built on deceit shatters both their dreams and threatens to destroy their lives forever.

I am a little torn with this review - between 3 ½ and 4 stars.

Lady Elyssa Prescott has a limp from a childhood accident and is painfully aware of her `imperfection' thanks to the reaction of `society'. Her siblings are fiercely protective of her and want her to be happy. Her sisters create a correspondence romance, realise it is a mistake and then Elyssa's brother Harrison decides to distract her by inviting someone to charm her for a 2-week party at their country estate.

He calls upon an old school friend with a reputation for the ladies, Brentan Montgomery, Earl of Charfield and offers him a foal from one of his Arabian horses for simply escorting his sister socially - warning him to keep proper distance.

Before the ploy can even begin Brent meets Elyssa out riding and is enthralled by her. She is an outstanding rider and shares his love of horses. His attraction is genuine and he truly sees her wonderful qualities. For the first time in her life, she is made to feel desired and attractive. However, the agreement with her brother hangs in the air above them like a hatchet waiting to fall.

Alongside the development of their story, there is a parallel story of Harrison and Lady Cassandra. They meet again after 4 years, following a terrible scandal and betrayal, only to realise that they were unwilling pawns in a game and so much time has been lost. Real danger now puts all of their lives at stake.

I liked the story and very much liked the 2 main characters, but the secondary plot could have been a story in its own right.

Overall a good read, but not quite up there for a 5 star rating.

This was a nice double love story and a good read. A brother and sister find love. The brother with an old flame who dumped him and the sister with an Earl that has a reputation for being a rake. Elly has an imperfection (I won't give it away) which makes her 4 over protective brothers and 2 nosey meddling sisters manipule her into a situation that ends with love. I loved the way the author created Elly, a strong independant female who didn't give in without making the Earl suffer when she stumbles on to the truth behind the Earls purpose in suddenly appearing at the house party her siblings arranged. I would have liked Elly to have held her brother responsible for his part in the deception that brought the Earl to her home. I recommend this read. Enjoy

This story was interesting and somewhat original. A bit of a beauty and the beast feel to the book. However, I really felt this must be a new author because there were many poorly edited areas of the book, repetitive sections and unnecessary parts as well. I think the book was overwritten to expand the length where it would have been more fit for a novella. The story was good though, and kept me reading. I still think this is reader worthy if you can get past some of the editing.

Elly is a beautiful young woman, who's only flaw is a limp that she is very self-conscious of. With her overprotective brothers and well-meaning twin sisters trying to help, she finds herself hosting a two week house party. Brent Montgomery, the Earl of Charfield, strikes a deal with Harrison and agrees to act as Elly's companion during the party in order to have breeding rights to a prize Arabian. As he travels to the party, he meets a lovely woman who love for the horses matches his own, he falls in love. After discovering that the woman he met is in fact the same woman he is suppose to spend time with, he couldnt be happier. Two weeks are filled with excitement as he tries to prove his love and Harrison is reconnected with a past love. This book was almost perfect in everyway and the ending will make your heart pound. I would hate to give anything else away but so much happens that you will stay up reading all night!

Despite my glowing recommendation of this book, I will disclose a rather large problem. Half the book was written in italics. I consider this to be an editor's mistake and has nothing to do with the author or the amazing story. The only other thing you should be aware of before you buy this book, is that it is two interconnected stories rolled into one. Elly's brother, Harrison, plays a major role in the book and finds his own long lost love. I strongly urge you to read this touching story of overcoming trials and finding true love.

This is a lovely romance telling the stories of two couples, not just one. I really enjoyed it...couldn't put it down once I started reading it....a great Kindle bargain from Amazon UK. I adored the story of Brentan, who is a rake looking for true love and finding it in the crippled Elyssa. He is an absolute darling and given a run for his money by Elyssa before they find their HEA. The other story is of Harrison, Elyssa's brother who is re-united with his former love after many years of misunderstanding and mutual distrust. This is a romance written with a focus on the development of the romance rather than sex which makes it a very satisfying read. If I had a criticism it's the melodramatic thread of the killer who is stalking Harrison...but I won't say more for fear of giving away the story. Definitely recommended.
