Book Description

A male prostitute, a mangy cat, a murder and an obsession that threatens his career, his impending marriage and his life. Nothing is going as planned for Austin Glass.

Austin Glass seems to have it all, A loving fiancee, a future with the FBI and a healthy sized trust fund. At least on the surface. He also has a grin and a wisecrack for every situation. But the smile he presents to the world hides a painful past he’s buried too deeply to remember, and his quips mask bitterness and insecurity. Austin has himself and most of the whole world fooled—until he meets a redhead in a pair of bunny slippers.

As events unfold in the biggest case of his life, Austin’s carefully planned future unravels, and he finds himself pushed into making quick, life-changing decisions. But can he trust himself or anything he feels, when each event seems to be just a series of volatile reactions?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational February 10, 2012

Sensationally good m/m romance from a new author. This is the story of Austin, an ambitious young detective with a series of broken engagements behind him, and Peter, a former prostitute and son of a Russian gangster who is now going straight to protect his beloved brothers. Austin spies Peter in a roadside diner and becomes immediately obsessed and infatuated. Peter brings back memories of a lost friend and reminds him of long buried desires. Their involvement threatens Austin's career and his life but no matter what happens he won't give up on Peter.

I fell in love with all the characters in this book. I'm still thinking about them several hours after I finished reading. The two MC's are both emotionally damaged but at the same time they both have strong survival instincts, a fierce joie de vivre and irreverent senses of humour that had me laughing out loud. In addition the author gives us a great love story and an absorbing mystery plot that encompasses prostitution, murder, drugs, dirty cops and a cold case ivolving a South American drug lord.

Special mention has to be made of the bunny slippers. I never thought novelty slippers could be so sexy or romantic! I will be impatiently waiting for the next book from this author and I think I'll reread this one again very soon. It's too good to only be read once.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shattered My Expectations February 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
24 chapters plus an epilogue that sets up a possible sequel (crossing my fingers)...
About 4940 locations of story...
So worth the $2.99 I paid for it!

To be honest, I was a expecting a shorter story, but surprisingly there is a lot of story for the price... I've paid more for less.

This is not exactly your typical m/m romance novel or even a typical m/m cop/mystery + romance either. The best thing about this book is Austin's narration of events.. had me ROFL throughout the book. The sub-chapter titles were hilarious too! Interesting character relationships and dynamics. Another plus about this book is that (to me at least) it was completely unpredictable both in terms of the romance and the mystery. I found myself with my jaw open in shock a few times or going WTF at others.

It took me until halfway through the book to have a lightbulb moment where I went "oh! That's why it's called Shattered Glass." A little later on after I figured it out, the author spells it out more clearly, so if you don't figure it out don't worry.

I recommend this book for two words alone... BUNNY SLIPPERS! Ha!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good indeed! February 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Wow this one is worth much much more than 3 bucks. Not just a full length novel, it is sheer entertainment which kept me reading till the very end with a break in between as it is a long novel. Kind of spoiling us readers as this writer has set such high standard for the price one may be willing to pay. Sure there are some editing problem but so minor that it is nothing. Human trafficking, drugs, dirty cops, gangsters from the past, the pace of the plot is astounding. One never know what to expect around the corner and I feel like I have experienced a whirlwind by the end. Both Austin and Peter are so well drawn out. Flawed, complex but so likable. I love Austin's voice. Engaging, absorbing with hilarious moments, I have such a fun time with this guy as he takes the reader on a roller coaster ride. But this is much more than a cop thriller. It is also a romance and a romance between a cop and a hooker is always fun as personalities clash. Except that it is more than fun as passion runs high and emotions clashed constantly in their tug-at-war romance. The secondary characters are just as interesting and fun. I do not know if this is the writer's debut but she has blown me away with this one. I hope she will deliver another exciting MM romance Soon. Bravo.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There are quite a few laugh out loud moments, stemming mostly from the neuroses and quirks of the MCs. The dialogue is very clever and snarky. Read more

More About the Author

Dani Alexander has been making up characters since he was fifteen. In fact, characters are his favorite part because all the voices in his head can now be explained in a way which doesn't make people question his sanity. Dani is lucky to have the support and love of a husband, his cats and a dog, all of whom get neglected when the voices start demanding to be put on paper.
