Originally released in 1987, Shattered Hearts was the debut album from Los Angeles melodic hard rockers Silent Rage. This was one of those bands (House of Lords was another) that KISS mastermind Gene Simmons tried to make a household name in the 80's.

Shattered Hearts was released before Simmons discovered the band, but it's just as good as the band's later efforts. Silent Rage may have had the typical Hollywood hair band image, but their sound was a lot more polished and melodic. It's full of great hooks, killer melodies and strong, soaring vocals with choruses you can't help but sing along with. Paul Sabu's production job is another reason the album sounds so good.

If you like bands like House of Lords/Giuffria, Giant, King Kobra and Hurricane, you'll definitely want to check out what Silent Rage was all about, and Shattered Hearts is a great place to start.

Edition Notes: Shattered Hearts (along with the follow-up album Don't Touch Me There) was reissued in 2004 by Z Records. It was reissued yet again in 2009, this time by Retrospect Records. Retrospect's reissue features remastered sound and a bonus track - a studio song called "Soul Survivor."

ahhhh. i remember this cd so well,,, i lost my flower for the first time to this album. excellent 80's pick up.
