5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book for Guardians of Ga'Hoole
I really liked the book. Although it was about Eglantine, and less about everyone else in the Great Ga'Hoole Tree, it was a nice change. 3.0 out of 5 stars OK...... whatever
Even though the Shattering was way shorter than the other books in the series by the end I had enough of Eglantine. The plot was so random. I am also getting tired of Soren bossing Eglantine and everyone else around. It seems like Kathryn Lasky doesn't tie any event to the next and makes up strange owl words in the middle of a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book for Guardians of Ga'Hoole, January 5, 2005
A Kid's Review
I really liked the book. Although it was about Eglantine, and less about everyone else in the Great Ga'Hoole Tree, it was a nice change. Soren is the main character and most readers forget many other owls in the tree have lives. Eglantine is quite mean to Primrose and realizes that something is terribly wrong with herself as she has a weird dream telling her to go to the Beaks and find her mum. Poor Primrose is replaced with a corny owl named Ginger. This book is different and well worth reading and we get some new perspectives. Oh, and they have the pictures of Soren, Gylfie, Twilight, Digger, Ruby, Ginger, Primrose and Barran in the back and front of the book! I love the pictures!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another GREAT Book in The Gaurdians of GaHoole, March 8, 2005
A Kid's Review
I have loved every single Gaurdians of GaHoole book, and if your like me you should love this book also. I highly recomend this book to anybody reading this review. Any ways the book is about mainly Eglantine. She gets a new friend named Ginger who was formerly a Pure One. Throughout the book Eglantine has nightmares. These nightmares tell her that her parents are still alive and living in The Beaks. To find out what happens order this book and read.

P.S. I can't wait until the seventh book comes out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm...., March 25, 2005
By

This book was about 20-30 pages shorter than the rest of them, and in my opinion, it really shows. It needed about three more chapters: One to better explain Nyra's motives in brainwashing Eglantine, one to give a better conclusion to the battle scene, and one more that focused on Soren. This would have rounded out the story. I didn't like how the book's focus abruptly switched from Eglantine's personal problems, to an earth-shaking battle, and finally to an ending that had nearly nothing to do with the rest of the book. Also, the plot itself was too flimsy, and felt like it would have done better as a part of Book Six rather than a standalone entry. I know I'm sounding pretty critical here, but I still liked it, and am going to continue reading this series. I hope that I will be able to give books six and seven five stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars The hoots keep on coming, August 9, 2004
A Kid's Review
This is it. the fifth book: The Shattering. Shattering is more horrible for owls than blinking. It is the process of turning an owls gizzard and mind into stone by exposure to flecks. Meanwhile ever since The former Pure One Ginger enetered Primrose and Eglantine's hollow Eglantine has had nightmares and been acting very odd and leaving Primrose out without any guilt. you might her gizzard has died and she can't feel a thing. and even worse she's found Kludd's mate Nyra and then dissapeared! now it's up to The Chaw of Chaw's to rescue Eglantine but can even they accomplish that?

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book., October 16, 2005

Brian Bruzzo (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This was an amazing book. A new owl named Ginger (who really works for the pure ones) who is in Eglantine's hollow puts flecks (dangerous bits of iron that can destroy an owls mind and still there gizzard)in Eglantines bed, shattering her mind and stopping her gizzard. Many things happen because of this, including Eglantine slipping away regularly to mirror lakes. But Eglantine soon relizes what is happening, and tries to fix it. And Eglantines friend Primrose also relizes what is going on. All these events lead to a fight with Nyra, Metalbeak's(Kludd's) evil mate, followed by a full fledged battle between those who went looking when Eglantine and Primrose went missing, and a large Battallion Headed by Nyra's Elite forces. An amazing book, with really shows you to be careful who your friends are.

P.S.wether or not youv'e read the other books, if you don't understand what I said, reread.
