4.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book even if a bit small to do justice to many of the images, December 14, 2006

This is a very beautiful book with some really nice, high quality images contained within. The size is a little disappointing, many of the really good images would be served so much better by a larger format. I'm not sure if I really like the title. It seems to reflect our whacko obsession with vaginas and the cosmetic treatment of. It may have been better served if it had been called `Focus on the [..]a beautiful part of womanhood'. Traditionally a lot of great (especially mainstream) images have not been all they could have been because of our Victorian era attitudes and keeping vaginas hidden from view when at times it would have been much more appropriate than models hands awkwardly places or props placed neatly in the frame to clutter the image.

This book has gone the other way and shows vaginas in images that may have been more naturally less `in ya face'. Still, it is a most beautiful and sacred part of a woman's sexuality so let's celebrate it and aim towards the balance between hiding it and looking for gratuitous ways of seeming to be `perving' on it (though for the half of us who don't have one of our own to study, learn and play with it's always a temptation). I enjoy this book and it has many quality images in it. Maybe this book's greatest value comes from it being representative of many photographer's work and style so anyone flicking through this can get a quick feel for people's work to decide who's work they'd like to pursue.

2.0 out of 5 stars Probably not worth it, February 20, 2007

Size of this book is too small for fine photography. Compounding the problem, many of the pictures were shot in very low resolution settings.

4.0 out of 5 stars ...the most exciting photographic book yet..., January 4, 2008
This review is from: Shaven or Unshaven (Hardcover)
...this is quite a fascinating book whose focus as others have said is the 'delta of venus' i.e. the female vulva, in its shaven/unshaven state. It features the work of about 35 erotic photographers who while mostly are male, it is refreshing to see female photographers taking part...as far as the pictures are concerned you get to see all sorts of vulvic hair styles, or lack of hair thereof in all sorts of poses, lighting, colors, close-ups imaginable. These vulvas will capture your interest... you will see all types of vaginal lips / labia, pierced and unpierced clitorises,...all venerating and showing the beauty of the female external genitalia in its artistic amazing glory...
