4.0 out of 5 stars World's Mightiest Maiden!
The DC Direct line of action figures is geared much more towards the collector's market than actual children's toys. These are better thought of as plastic statues than anything else. Only slightly posable and somewhat fragile, they are all about having a three-dimensional representation of favorite characters.

1.0 out of 5 stars I bought both models & they both broke right away
These "Mary Marvel" dolls are very poorly made. I bought both models, the red and the white, for my little girl. We'd been playing with other action figures -- Spider-Man, Wonder Woman -- and she was very excited to get two more girl figures to play with. These figures are stiff and brittle. They don't pose easily and they break at the slightest pressure. My kid was really upset at how flimsy these were. Good to look at inside a box, maybe, but a lousy toy.

Being a huge Marvel Family fan and collector, I was thrilled to see pretty much the whole gang given the DC Direct treatment. This is the first Mary Marvel figure since the Marvel Family line of syrocco figures back in the 1940's. I have never been able to afford a sirocco, so having this modern figure available is a real treat.

This is definitely the modern version of the character, and Mary Marvel looks much older here, around 16 or 17, than she did in her Golden Age appearances where she would have been around 11 or 12. Her face and costume are well-sculpted, and she looks great on the shelf.

Even for being only a shelf figure, however, this Mary Marvel figure is more fragile than usual. I have had particular trouble with the arms popping out of their sockets. It is easy enough to stick them back in, but it is a clear design flaw.
