Book Description

A passionate romantic-suspense of love, betrayal, and obsession, She Belongs to Me will have you falling in love and wondering if you can trust anyone right up to the last page.

After secrets and a mysterious background leave a wife's life hanging by a thread, a husband must look for answers in the only place he knows--the past.

When wealthy construction company owner and Charlotte detective, Jordan Monroe, meets Jaynee for the first time he is awestruck and determines to make her his wife. Jaynee, however, has a history she cannot easily overcome and is fearful to submit to love. Jordan succeeds in making her his wife, but five years into their marriage, he realizes she is keeping secrets.  Before he can decipher her duplicity, he discovers her unconscious in their home from a gunshot wound only hours after giving her an ultimatum concerning their relationship.

With Jaynee's life hanging in the balance, the mystery of her past drives Jordan to investigate. But what appears to be an attempted suicide turns out to be something far darker. Is someone from her past stalking her? Or worse, is someone close to Jordan trying to kill them both? As Jordan edges closer to the truth, it may be deadlier than he could ever have imagined.

"Carmen DeSousa has written an incredibly stunning book, full of spot on visuals that put you in the midst of the conversations, like a ghostly guest that spies on a romantic dinner date." -- Ashley Fontainne

"SHE BELONGS TO ME is a definitely good suspenseful read. Ms. DeSousa is a talented author and I had no problem in connecting with the characters. The story displayed a realistic relationship between Jordan and Jaynee." -- The Romance Reviews

From the Author

A romantic-suspense writer, my novels overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a great story be without a tragic event setting the stage? My sensual and gripping mysteries have earned bestseller status on three continents because of their ability to make readers love, laugh, cry, gasp, and hope.

All of my novels are standalones; however, I do link each of my stories with a little surprise. If you read out of order, you'll never notice. But if you read in order, it's fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, mystery and great characters! January 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Jaynee ends up shot just outside her home, her loving husband finding her. As she lies in a coma, a distraught Jordan must untangle the threads of her recent days to find out why she shot herself. Or did she? For Jaynee wasn't the only one keeping secrets ... and one of those secrets is deadly. Can he find the truth before a killer strikes again?

I really enjoyed this book, and it's not explicit, so teenagers as well as those with delicate sensibilities will like it. You'll be swept off your feet along with Jaynee as she discovers the man of her dreams. You'll be drawn into the drama. And you'll flip the pages fast as Jordan must desperately figure out the truth in time. I was and did!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful love story! March 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
After a rough start in life Jaynee has decided to put herself first and focus on herself and her education. She's not looking for love but when sexy and confident Jordan lands in her seating area one night at work there's no denying the instant chemistry between them. This story is filled with romance, anticipation and mystery. I really enjoyed the character development and the dialogue between everyone. Right from the beginning I felt like I could relate to Jaynee. The only thing I didn't like was the wedding planning. I don't want to spoil anything but I will just say I wish she had more involvement. I absolutely loved how the author gave us a look into their future. A lot of times I get to the end of a book and think, "but I want to know what happens next!" I'm a romance junkie and highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a wonderful love story. Five Stars all the way!

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't stink . . . December 28, 2012
By G. Buck
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
However, I'd like to suggest the author and editor invest in a thesaurus and dictionary, please.

The story was sloppy, but okay. Poor punctuation, misuse of words and butchering of the English language increased significantly about halfway through. It's as though two different people wrote the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars She Belongs....on the SCREEN! April 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A beautiful woman that has suffered countless difficulties in her life, finally beginning to accept the lonesome existence she seems doomed wander alone. A strong, stoic man that has hidden his inner desires for true love under the guise of "building a career." A divinely inspired encounter that leads to previously unknown happiness for both of them.

And one unknown killer that wants to ruin it all.

Carmen DeSousa has written an incredibly stunning book, full of spot on visuals that put you in the midst of the conversations, like a ghostly guest that spies on a romantic dinner date. The love that builds slowly up between Jaycee and Jordan is written just steamy enough to hold your attention, but full of enough decorum as not to be considered overdone.

Of course, then you add the mystery and suspense aspects that leave you turning the page in the middle of the night, promising yourself "just one more chapter" coupled with delicately interwoven life lessons about faith, love and hope, and you have a book that is made for the big screen!

If you love suspenseful tales like I do, and keep you grappling between characters as you try to pinpoint the perpetrator, then this book is certainly for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Made Me....Happy February 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Honestly I haven't given a book a five star review since Autobiography of a Werewolf Hunter by Brian Easton and honestly, I didn't think I was going to give out anymore, but She Belongs To Me was so beautifully written, so beautifully told, I literally have no choice. Honestly Jaynee is beautiful, Jordan is an example of the kind of husband I want to be, and everybody else around them reminds me of the saying, "Misery Loves Company," the secondary cast so full of their own problems that they want to bring the couple down. But this book illustrates what true love is, and shows that nobody has to be perfect to find a love that is perfect. Truly perfect. Truly beautiful. Truly this book. Honestly, I don't know if The Notebook was a book first but if this was turned into a script and done justice, then I could see it becoming as much as a classic on the silver screen then it was on my Kindle. Five Stars given away easily. Great job Carmen DeSousa. You have beautifully crafted a masterpiece.

3.0 out of 5 stars A book which could have been a real thriller April 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Firstly, I need to say that the woman's face on the cover is one of the loveliest I have seen, epitomising everything about the heroine, who is a likeable character.

This romance novel could have been a real humdinger of a thriller but unfortunately, the author in my opinion, did not take advantage of the excellent plot which she set up. This is reflected in the title, as the plot shows all the characters wanting to own either Jaynee or material wealth. The story starts well with the meeting in the restaurant and the backstory work, however, I was disappointed from then on. In my opinion, Ms DeSousa tried to fit too much into the book; the plot covers far too long a time span which upsets the pace. I also feel the author was torn between writing a traditional light romance and a romantic mystery. This shows in the differing sections of the plot.

The couple meet, fall in love and marry within a few days, but during and after, the plot slows right down, from far too much description of shopping trips, what Jaynee buys and how they meet the family. I know meeting the family and having a second wedding is important to the romance side of the story and is the traditional romance section. That part was okay, but then the author skips across five years with very little information. There is some mention of hiking and other pursuits, but it's more of an "information watershed." This makes the ending (the mystery) rushed, though the twists and turns are good when the action finally picks up.

The two main characters are interesting. Janyee is typical of a romantic heroine in 2012 - damaged from a former relationship - and Jordan is traditionally handsome, but he comes across as a controlling and wildly jealous husband.
