Bomber’s musical son and investigator, Tod, explores the odd history of the victim. For decades, the mansion’s employees were ordered to keep the house immaculate with fresh flowers daily should the billionairess decide to pay a surprise visit. Her first surprise visit was also her last.

Tod chases mysterious witnesses, encountering life-threatening antics from high powered political circles. Enroute he falls in love with a beguiling young violinist who is uniquely positioned to help him crack the dark mysteries of the case.

She Died for her Sins is another tightly drawn courtroom drama featuring the irrepressible and brilliant defense attorney, Bomber Hanson, who always leaves you begging for more.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Ace defense attorney Bomber Hanson takes on a new client, a hotheaded young Communist accused of murdering his wealthy heiress employer, on the theory that the man is too obnoxious to be guilty. In David Champion's witty She Died for Her Sins: A Bomber Hanson Mystery, the attorney is again aided by his hapless, stuttering son, Tod, who chases after witnesses and falls in love with a bombshell violinist who might just help him solve the case.

From Library Journal

Famous defense attorney Bomber Hanson's put-upon son and gofer, Tod, investigates the murder of a controlling and manipulative Chicago heiress during her first and only visit to a California oceanfront mansion she has long owned. Bomber has decided to defend the Mexican gardener accused in the case, despite the man's outspoken political leanings, so Tod questions all the other principals: personal secretary, chauffeur, lawyer, beneficiaries, etc. With a little assist from the lawyer's secretary, Tod overcomes a seemingly impossible situation. A quick-moving plot, great dialog, and steadily engaging prose make this sixth Bomber Hanson mystery (after Too Rich and Too Thin) a real winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Champion's Writing is Unique and Spellbinding, December 7, 2008
This review is from: She Died for Her Sins: A Bomber Hanson Mystery (Bomber Hanson Mystery Series, 6) (Hardcover)
David Champion demonstrates his remarkable skills in She Died for Her Sins, a novel about a rich, elderly woman who is a murder victim, and the communist who allegedly killed her. The sixth in the Bomber Hanson series, this book has everything the fans of Bomber Hanson have come to expect: thoroughness on the part of the main character, tenacity and perseverance on the parts of Bomber and the main character, and rhetorical skill and biting humor on the part of Bomber, who reminds me of Billy Flynn from Chicago.
This novel also adds in a bit of romance, with Joan Harding, the secretary of the victim's lawyer, Morely Tushman. While admittedly the romance between Joan and the main character is a bit unrealistic- they play duets together and fall in love almost immediately upon meeting, it is still a creative change from the candlelight dinners and sex on the first date themes of romance novels. Besides, the two characters are both musicians on the side, so to that end, their playing duets together makes sense for them.
If you are a Bomber Hanson, courtroom drama and/or Chicago fan, if you think communism is a failed doctrine, if you enjoy classical music, and/or if you are high-school aged or older, read this book.
