Heard it on Imus this morning. He said it right. It is by far the best country song ever written or recorded.

This song will make you laugh till your sides hurt!!!!! You will have to play it for everyone you know!

Humorous songs are a long-time staple of country music. This one is the best in many years.

Yet for some reason, mainstream country stations ignored it.

I'm not a radio insider; I don't know why it got ignored.

But I suspect it's because most playlists are created by corporate suits that wouldn't listen to country music if it weren't their job and/or are afraid of any song that might be misunderstood and cause controversy.

So, playlists are overrun with hat acts and groups that are more pop than country.

Anyway, ignore the boring and seek out great music like this. Play it at your next church gathering to find out which of your friends have a sense of humor and which don't.

First off, I don't really like country music, except Lucinda Williams, Willy Nelson, Allison Krauss, Dixie Chicks, and, well, ok -- I guess I do like some country music. But this song is darn near perfect for folks like me: All-American, upbeat, good-time lovin', independent thinkin' kind of folks. When I can sing along and laugh about all the poor suckers out there in the country with closed minds, stuck in their ruts, hearin' this song for the first time, goin' "Now here's a good ol' God-fearin' country boy singin' about losin' his girl..." then "Hey, wait a minute! He sounds like he's Agnostic or Atheist or even Muslim!" Well, I just sing along louder, laugh harder and say, "Thanks Hayes Carll -- that's a gol dang good song you done wrote!" With any luck, this song will start a revolution of independent thinkin' folks like Hayes Carll and me, marchin' down Main Street singin' "Well, if I ever find Jesus..."

Meanwhile, get your hands on Religulous, that's worth a few good laughs, too.

I listened to the sample online and it sounded fine. I paid for the song and downloaded it and, on the exact same computer and speakers, the thing sounds horrible. It's like I got a really cheap and crummy recording rather than the one I heard online. The song I got is fuzzy and lousy.

If this was a regular product rather than something I can't return you can bet I'd return it in a heartbeat. I've never had a problem with Amazon before but then I've never downloaded a music file from them before. You can be sure I won't make the same mistake twice.

Heard on IMUS and I think I have left people for Jesus and in song.... hey he isn't going to hell.... He is just telling it like it was... and buy the IMUS Ranch RECORD..... thanks, sally
