why she must like it!,

This book was very informative. I was in an abusive relationship for several years. Every woman/girl should read this book. They could be in the early stages of an abusive relationship and not really realize it, but if they read this book they could recognize the signs. And hopefully get out before it's too late. It's very hard to see the signs yourself, when you are in "love". And the more your friends and family nag you about it, the more in "love" you become and the more you want to work things out. Do any and everything to make your partner happy. And it seems the more you try, to worse it gets. I think that reading the personal stories of strangers in similar situations, you can recognize the signs. I was reading the stories, and i would say to myself "wow, he said or did the same thing". It was somewhat comforting to know that there was someone else out there who knew how it was. Most of the abuse stories you hear, whether on tv or read in an article, is all about, why dont you leave?, why do you stay? ,, You just can't understand the fear and love that go hand in hand with the situation. Being with someone like that is like being on drugs, you dont think you can live without them. I actually would have anxiety attacks when we would actually break up. I thought that all our problems were my fault and if I could just be more of what he wanted it would work out. I just think everyone should read this book, especially teenage girls. I think that most men who dominate and abuse usually target young girls with little experience so they can manipulate them. It's really a mind game with these men and they know how to play it well. So there should be something to read for the girls so they can see the signs, "red flags" as it is referred to in the book... I just thought it was an excellently written book. thank you.

Well written,
This review is from: She Must Like It (Paperback)
The biographies read like compelling stories to which I could relate. My mate had been physically/mentally abusive until I finally grew out of tolerating it through the help of my friends. I could not read more than a couple tales at a time because they were painful. It is helpful to have several women's experiences lined up in one book because it becomes clear what abusive relationships have in common: a naive and/or insecure woman being systematically brainwashed into believing everything is her fault and that she has the ability to "fix" the situation if she only would try harder. I'm glad the author is safe now. There are not specific "solutions" to any situation, the solution is knowing the warning signs before you get in too deep.

This book is a waste of time,
This review is from: She Must Like It (Paperback)
It only touches on the terrible stories and none of the solutions and even the stories are not told well. The book is full of spelling errors and is actually more discouraging to survivors than helpful.
