Fantastic CD,

I was able to purchase this CD from Ray Wilson's website earlier this year and have played it so much that I need to purchase a new one. I was familiar with Ray as the vocalist that replaced Phil Collins for Genesis' last studio album "Calling All Stations," a highly underated effort that while successful in Europe didn't fare too well this side of the pond. Ray has gone on to release some excellent solo work to much critical acclaim. This solo work has tended towards a softer, singer-songwriter sound, although Ray has continued to perform some of the harder Stiltskin material in his live shows. Although I am not normally a big fan of harder rock, I listened to samples of the new Stiltskin material on the website and was sold. This stuff is fantastic! The quality of the production is one of the best I've ever heard, the songs grow on you more and more with each listen. What I find most amazing is that Ray completely financed this project on his own, without a major record deal. I would not hesitate to recommend this CD to anyone, it's that good.

A desperate and belated attempt to cash in by Wilson,

The Mind's Eye
When Stiltskin burst onto the scene in 1994 with there classic number 1 single "Inside" it seemed as if British Rock finally had a heavyweight contender. Sadly this was not to be as Wilson's relentless complaining in interviews about how difficult it was to be rich and famous turned the media and fans against the band. Wilson then went on to front Genesis during their disastrous "Calling All Stations" period. Once again Wilson's difficult personality lead to his being sacked. Wilson then spent a decade in self-financed cover-version hell, getting fatter and fatter and playing to fewer and fewer people in smaller and smaller venues. Now in what must be a final throw of the dice Wilson has appropriated the Stiltskin name in order to produce this abysmal collection of sub-German tuneless metal. It is to Stiltskin what "I can't believe its not Butter" is to Butter. AVOID |
