Adventure in the Himalayas,
This review is from: She Still Lives: A Novel of Tibet (Paperback)
"She Still Lives" is a delight. An adventure story set in a future Tibet suffering under the Chinese. Outlaws and revolutionaries vs tyranny and oppression. Sex and romance. Brutality and compassion. Sympathetic characters and a prison break unique in all of literature. It's all here.Magee has drawn a vividly realized world of village and mountain, political machinations and a touch of magic. The writing is accomplished, fluid and clear. Moral dilemmas arise naturally from the story and give the fast-paced adventure just the right amount of weight. The old chestnut about not judging a book by its cover is particularly apt here. The publisher - the wonderful Snow Lion Publications - made a bad mistake with the book's cover: it looks like the poster for a B movie. But don't let that put you off. The book is smart, fast and fun. Buy it and enjoy.

This review is from: She Still Lives: A Novel of Tibet (Paperback)
This is a easy to read tale with a futuristic bent that can be read fast. It does not have much depth but for those who love Buddhism and Tibet it's just plain fun.
