Whatever you do, don't miss the very fun and engaging TV series "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON"/LOVE & CURSES"! This unforgettable horror/drama/comedy/romance series aired as part of the short-lived (and poorly distributed) Hollywood Premiere Network (1990-91) of syndicated shows. The Hollywood Premiere Network consisted of only three shows: "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON", "SHADES OF L.A." and "THEY CAME FROM OUTER SPACE". "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON" was finally seen across the entire country when it aired on The SCI-FI Channel in the mid-90's as part of their "Sci-Fi Fridays" prime-time line-up. The beautiful Kate Hodge ("Rapid Fire", "The Hidden II", "Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III") stars as Randi Wallace, a young American graduate student living in England who is cursed to become a werewolf every full moon. Neil Dickson ("Biggles: Adventures in Time", the evil Rickman on Season 3 of "SLIDERS") stars as Ian Matheson, professor of mythology, and Randi's would-be love-interest. Together, the duo search for a cure for Randi's curse and also investigate other supernatural occurences. With Episode #15, the series title and format changed to "LOVE & CURSES" and production moved to Los Angeles. Ian quits academia and gets a job as the host of "How Strange", a Los Angeles-area TV show which focused on the supernatural, and Randi becomes his producer. The following is a list of episode titles with original airdates:
"SHE-WOLF OF LONDON": 1. "She-Wolf of London" (pilot) (10/09/90 2. "The Bog Man of Letchmoor Heath" (10/16/90) 3. "Moonlight Becomes You" (10/23/90) 4. "The Juggler" (10/30/90) 5. "Nice Girls Don't" (11/06/90) 6. "Little Bookshop of Horrors" (11/13/90) 7. "Can't Keep a Dead Man Down, part one" (11/20/90) 8. "Can't Keep a Dead Man Down, part two" (11/27/90) 9. "The Wild Hunt" (12/04/90) 10. "What's Got Into Them?" (12/12/90) 11. "Big Top She-Wolf" (01/12/91) 12. "She-Devil" (01/19/91) 13. "Voodoo Child" (01/26/91) 14. "Beyond the Beyond" (02/09/91) (An unforgettable spoof of STAR TREK and science fiction conventions!) Series Title Changes to "LOVE & CURSES" 15. "Curiousity Killed the Kravitz" (03/06/91) 16. "Habeas Corpses" (03/13/91) 17. "Bride of the Wolfman" (03/20/91) 18. "Heart Attack" (03/27/91) 19. "Mystical Pizza" (04/03/91) 20. "Eclipse" (04/10/91) Don't hesitate to purchase "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON" on DVD!!! It is well worth your time, I assure you! A few other obscure fun/campy sci-fi TV shows that I heartily recommend are "THE MIDDLEMAN", Sam Raimi's "CLEOPATRA 2525", "CONAN: THE ADVENTURER", "THE IMMORTAL" starring Lorenzo Lamas, and "BLACK SCORPION".

Never thought it'd happen...,
This review is from: She-Wolf of London: The Complete Series (DVD)
Wow. This is one title I just never even hoped for because really, what were the odds? But we've got THE WOLFMAN coming out in February and I guess someone somewhere remembered they had a show that could tie-in. Give it a bit of a TWILIGHT spin on the cover and maybe get some of that crowd, too.
Whatever it takes, I'm all for it. Love this show. I'll admit it tried with varying degrees of success for that mix of horror/humor that KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER had before it and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER would perfect after it until they just went for the humor with the last few episodes. I didn't much care for the move to Los Angeles and fully embracing the lighter tone but even those episodes provided one of my favorites of the entire series. I still want to see a "Bride of the Wolfman" movie, darn it! Anyway, Kate Hodge was adorable as werewolf Randi and the chemistry with Neil Dickson as Ian - must've been a school mate of Rupert Giles, I swear - as the would-be lovers (seems like getting frisky with Randi causes the wolf to come out - which really inspires Ian to help find the cure and I don't blame him!) was spot on. The look and atmosphere of the London based episodes push this series above the other syndicated genre shows of the time such as FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES, TALES OF THE DARKSIDE, MONSTERS and the like. And it's about a werewolf! What else do you need? Even if you're not a voracious werewolf fan such as I, there's lots to like in this series. This release makes the pain of losing the WEREWOLF TV series DVD set bearable.

I never thought this series would be released but thanks to Universal's cross-marketing of "The Wolfman" movie we now have it! Reminds me of when Sony released "Tabitha" when the horrible "Bewitched" movie was released.
It's such a shame Universal didn't include the original opening for the first 14 episodes. I am sure it was completely accidental. So many studios really don't know their material as well as the fans do. That's why Studios really should contact a fan website every now and then and get some input or let them preview the check-discs...but they are probably afraid of confidential information being leaked. So mistakes like this happen. The original theme and opening are so great too....So much better than the "Love and Curses" theme and opening. I guess I'll have to dig my Sci-Fi channel recorded VHS' out of storage and transfer the opening. Thanks anyway Universal for releasing this great show! I really do appreciate it! Next time though, do a little more research, please. BTW, UNIVERSAL, Can we please have the final seasons of "Amazing Stories" (Season 2), "SeaQuest 2032," and Sliders (Season 5). It seems such a shame to release every season except the last! You've come so close!
