Whatever you do, don't miss the very fun and engaging TV series "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON"/LOVE & CURSES"! This unforgettable horror/drama/comedy/romance series aired as part of the short-lived (and poorly distributed) Hollywood Premiere Network (1990-91) of syndicated shows. The Hollywood Premiere Network consisted of only three shows: "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON", "SHADES OF L.A." and "THEY CAME FROM OUTER SPACE". "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON" was finally seen across the entire country when it aired on The SCI-FI Channel in the mid-90's as part of their "Sci-Fi Fridays" prime-time line-up. The beautiful Kate Hodge ("Rapid Fire", "The Hidden II", "Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III") stars as Randi Wallace, a young American graduate student living in England who is cursed to become a werewolf every full moon. Neil Dickson ("Biggles: Adventures in Time", the evil Rickman on Season 3 of "SLIDERS") stars as Ian Matheson, professor of mythology, and Randi's would-be love-interest. Together, the duo search for a cure for Randi's curse and also investigate other supernatural occurences. With Episode #15, the series title and format changed to "LOVE & CURSES" and production moved to Los Angeles. Ian quits academia and gets a job as the host of "How Strange", a Los Angeles-area TV show which focused on the supernatural, and Randi becomes his producer. The following is a list of episode titles with original airdates:
"SHE-WOLF OF LONDON": 1. "She-Wolf of London" (pilot) (10/09/90 2. "The Bog Man of Letchmoor Heath" (10/16/90) 3. "Moonlight Becomes You" (10/23/90) 4. "The Juggler" (10/30/90) 5. "Nice Girls Don't" (11/06/90) 6. "Little Bookshop of Horrors" (11/13/90) 7. "Can't Keep a Dead Man Down, part one" (11/20/90) 8. "Can't Keep a Dead Man Down, part two" (11/27/90) 9. "The Wild Hunt" (12/04/90) 10. "What's Got Into Them?" (12/12/90) 11. "Big Top She-Wolf" (01/12/91) 12. "She-Devil" (01/19/91) 13. "Voodoo Child" (01/26/91) 14. "Beyond the Beyond" (02/09/91) (An unforgettable spoof of STAR TREK and science fiction conventions!) Series Title Changes to "LOVE & CURSES" 15. "Curiousity Killed the Kravitz" (03/06/91) 16. "Habeas Corpses" (03/13/91) 17. "Bride of the Wolfman" (03/20/91) 18. "Heart Attack" (03/27/91) 19. "Mystical Pizza" (04/03/91) 20. "Eclipse" (04/10/91) Don't hesitate to purchase "SHE-WOLF OF LONDON" on DVD!!! It is well worth your time, I assure you! A few other obscure fun/campy sci-fi TV shows that I heartily recommend are "THE MIDDLEMAN", Sam Raimi's "CLEOPATRA 2525", "CONAN: THE ADVENTURER", "THE IMMORTAL" starring Lorenzo Lamas, and "BLACK SCORPION".

Never thought it'd happen...,
This review is from: She-Wolf of London: The Complete Series (DVD)
Wow. This is one title I just never even hoped for because really, what were the odds? But we've got THE WOLFMAN coming out in February and I guess someone somewhere remembered they had a show that could tie-in. Give it a bit of a TWILIGHT spin on the cover and maybe get some of that crowd, too.
Whatever it takes, I'm all for it. Love this show. I'll admit it tried with varying degrees of success for that mix of horror/humor that KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER had before it and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER would perfect after it until they just went for the humor with the last few episodes. I didn't much care for the move to Los Angeles and fully embracing the lighter tone but even those episodes provided one of my favorites of the entire series. I still want to see a "Bride of the Wolfman" movie, darn it! Anyway, Kate Hodge was adorable as werewolf Randi and the chemistry with Neil Dickson as Ian - must've been a school mate of Rupert Giles, I swear - as the would-be lovers (seems like getting frisky with Randi causes the wolf to come out - which really inspires Ian to help find the cure and I don't blame him!) was spot on. The look and atmosphere of the London based episodes push this series above the other syndicated genre shows of the time such as FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES, TALES OF THE DARKSIDE, MONSTERS and the like. And it's about a werewolf! What else do you need? Even if you're not a voracious werewolf fan such as I, there's lots to like in this series. This release makes the pain of losing the WEREWOLF TV series DVD set bearable.

I never thought this series would be released but thanks to Universal's cross-marketing of "The Wolfman" movie we now have it! Reminds me of when Sony released "Tabitha" when the horrible "Bewitched" movie was released.
It's such a shame Universal didn't include the original opening for the first 14 episodes. I am sure it was completely accidental. So many studios really don't know their material as well as the fans do. That's why Studios really should contact a fan website every now and then and get some input or let them preview the check-discs...but they are probably afraid of confidential information being leaked. So mistakes like this happen. The original theme and opening are so great too....So much better than the "Love and Curses" theme and opening. I guess I'll have to dig my Sci-Fi channel recorded VHS' out of storage and transfer the opening. Thanks anyway Universal for releasing this great show! I really do appreciate it! Next time though, do a little more research, please. BTW, UNIVERSAL, Can we please have the final seasons of "Amazing Stories" (Season 2), "SeaQuest 2032," and Sliders (Season 5). It seems such a shame to release every season except the last! You've come so close!

She-Wolf of London: Complete Series Just received the dvd series. Ordinarily, I would have given it a much higher rating. However, the original theme music was removed( why? I don't know. Maybe the moon was shining purple instead of its usual pristine color.) and replaced with the very sappy and irritating love and curses theme.
I distinctly remember the theme to be very sensuous, with a mysterious undertone. That tied in beautifully with the concept of the "She-Wolf". Instead of the dvd producers maintaining that line of thought, they opted to throw in an opening theme which was so irritating that it almost made me gag. Thankfully, the contents of the episodes included little scenes that were edited by either WWOR or Sci-Fi. Also, I found a glitch in the video transfer. In the 'Little Bookshop of Horrors(?)', there is a video warp at the very beginning of the episode.[Maybe someone fell asleep at the editing table]. Come on guys! You want this sale to take off(especially in the advent of the 'Wolf-man' movie release to be coming to theaters soon), you have to pay attention!

Well,I was half way though transfering my old scifi vhs to dvd when this came out. While I was really happy to get this, I was also somewhat dissapointed that the begining theme was "NOT" the she wolf of london theme, but the horrible "love and curses" one which should not come untill later. Also, the video transfer was very washed out and grainy at times. This was clearly shot on film since you can see the imperfections at times. Some scenes are very clear, and some are grainy, or washed out or wayy to much contrast blooming durring some outdoor daytime scenes. It would have been nice to see this little gem treated better. A comentary from the stars would have been nice too. (Neil D would make a great dr. who btw). But I guess beggars can't be choosers. At least it was a decent price.

I bought She-Wolf of London:The Complete Series..and found it charming and different..compared to the other shows of its type such as "Forever Knight"..Friday 13th the TV series...and a bit of "Buffy"....the action does get a little bloody at times but not especially gory..It has more stories that remind me of "Kolchak the Night Stalker" than anything else..It is shot in England...and various places in The British Isles...The show gets atmospheric at times. The actors work very well together...the chemistry between Kate Hodge and Neil Dikson develops rather quickly..on the first disc.Only one minor tiny flaw with this set...i think the opening music sucks.."70s style" so i just mute the opening music . I still gave the show 5 stars cause i really liked it...Oh yes, i bought this complete set from Amazon.com...

Way Back in 1990,3 years after Werewolf:the TV Series was cancelled. Something wonderful happend in the fall of 1990. We all got a chance to see a female Werewolf. That Werewolf was...She-Wolf of London. Starring the beautiful and talented Kate Hodge. She plays Randi Wallace,a college student that travels to London to study with mytholagy professor Dr. Ian Matheson. Played by the a great british actor Neil Dickson. And the rest of the cast is great and funny in every way. I have really no problem with the revamp of the She-Wolf of London main titles,at least they left She-Wolf end credits in tact. This series will make you cry, laugh, and sympathize completely with Randi's contition as Ian tires so desperately to help her find a cure. The episode Voodoo Child is quite evident that Ian cares about Randi. I am just loving every minute of this show. Long live Kate, Neil, Scott Fults and the rest oif the british gang as they serve up laughs. And of course the beast that Randi becomes every full moon.

I discovered this show on my own back in the mid 1990's when it was shown on the then very new Sci-Fi channel. I "got it" right away and managed to video tape the entire series. A few years ago I transferred it to my DVR. For the past fifteen years I've asked a number of sci-fi loving acquantances and friends if they'd ever heard of a series called "She Wolf of London" and the answer has always been "Huh?" or "Uh...nope", and I started to wonder if I was the only person in the world who appreciated this show and had preserved it for posterity.
Well, with the advent of the Internet I discovered a smattering of souls out there who "got it" just the way I did, and had their VHS tape collections too. So, I at least knew I wasn't totally alone, but I never really thought this show would be out on DVD. My wife and I recently got so desperate for some smart sci-fi type of show to watch together that I suggested we watch the pilot episode off my DVR, and it brought back memories of just how unique and fun this show really was. I decided to check if at long last it might be out on a genuine legitimate commercial DVD, and low and behold here it is! AOOOOOOWWWWW!! I especially liked the last few episodes that take place in LA. Here, the show becomes a comedy spoof of the supernatural. We've got our heroes trapped in a genuine old werewolf type movie, a renegade cupid who shoots arrows to get people to break up, vampires who run a law firm, molemen who don't get cable TV, etc. It's like the people making the show knew that they were doomed so they decided to have as much fun as they could doing goofy stuff. Anyway, I hope a new generation of sci-fi/horror fans get to see this show. Hint for enjoyment: have a sense of humor and don't expect it to be more than it was meant to be. The characters are endearing, have chemistry, and Kate Hodge was as cutiful a leading lady as there ever was. Enjoy.

I loved this show when it was in sindication, and I find I still do. I'm just sorry it didn't run longer. It fits in nitch with shows like Doctor Who and Torchwood.

I bought my DVD set from Amazon and I enjoyed it. Yes, it's a bit slow versus the pace of current day movies and TV series. Yes, the "Love and Curses" opening isn't as good as the "She-Wolf of London" opening (you can see/download the original opening on YouTube). Yes, it's a bit campy. However, it was a nostalgic thing for me - watched it during a difficult time in my life - it was like seeing an old friend again. I'll bet Joss Whedon was influenced by this series for "Buffy" (English Professor of Mythology, girl with special powers, monster of the week, etc). I love Kate Hodge - I wish she had been in more things over the years.
