4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I bought this as a present because I already have one myself and find it excellent. It folds to an easily carriable size and is equally easy to open and close. (Well, closing it completely with a touch would be impractical to arrange, but that's the only slight weakness.) I haven't been able to test it in a very strong wind, but the openings certainly prevent trouble in...

I bought this umbrella since it rains seemingly every day where I go to school. The umbrella is very compact and it fits in my backpack's side pocket (designed to hold a water bottle) with no problem. The auto open/close feature works very well and is handy if you've got your hands full.

I bought this umbrella since it rains seemingly every day where I go to school. The umbrella is very compact and it fits in my backpack's side pocket (designed to hold a water bottle) with no problem. The auto open/close feature works very well and is handy if you've got your hands full.

What's not handy is the size of the umbrella. The product photo is very misleading; the umbrella is enough to keep one adult person dry and that's it. Anything else you might be carrying or anyone who might be walking with you will need their own umbrella. My backpack ends up drenched. The wind vents don't work as well as advertised either. While they do help, there have been times where I've gotten the WindPro caught in a strong gust. It's relatively strong construction is the only think that keeps it from blowing inside-out in those instances.

All in all, you might want to look for alternatives considering the price of this umbrella.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doens't withstand strong wind, January 3, 2009
This review is from: Shed Rain WindPro Auto Open/Close Mini (Apparel)
It's not a year since I got this umbrella and it seemed ok. However, the notion that it doesn't flip inside-out is completely wrong. I was using my "great find" and was hit by one gust that flipped the umbrella. No sooner than I had corrected it, it flipped again with a slight gust, but this time one of the supports broke. What a disappointment.

I really expected this umbrella to hold up in most wind conditions,Hurricane force winds exempted of course, because of its sleek design.

Maybe I will find a product that does what it says.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Product, January 25, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Shed Rain WindPro Auto Open/Close Mini (Apparel)
I used this for the first time this morning. Immediately upon opening it, the wind flipped it inside out. The umbrella didn't even put up a fight. Today's weather is the reason I bought this in the first place. I ended up closing it rather than struggling to keep it upright. I would up at work with very wet hair. A useless purchase. I'd have been better off with the Totes umbrella that I was using.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fooled Twice, November 20, 2009
This review is from: Shed Rain WindPro Auto Open/Close Mini (Apparel)
I've had two of these umbrellas. I like to Auto open/close feature and the size is goof for the car and briefcase.

However, my first one quit working after 6 months. The Auto Open feature didn't work right. The shaft would shoot out with a force that broke my grip, but the umbrella wouldn't open. Not even manually.

My second one broke when a gust of wind turned it inside out and broke a strut. I thought the vents were there to prevent that sort of thing.

There won't be a third. I'm looking at a different model now. GustBuster Metro 43-Inch Automatic Umbrella
