I just recently passed the CEN exam and I credit this book primarily. I've only been in the emergency department a little under two years and a year ago I realized that I really needed a resource that detailed everything an ER nurse should know. I bought this book then and have been reading it over the following 9-10 months to solidify my knowledge base and prepare for the CEN exam. I will attest that everything on the CEN exam was covered in the pages of this book, but even better, after having read the book I feel much more confident about my practice as an ER nurse. I would suggest any nurse working in a ER to have this book at their disposal.

I just started working in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 trauma center. This book is very helpful and very to the point and has alot of information that is very useful for any emergency/trauma nurse.. its even great for nursing students!

The sheer amount of content covered in this text is incredible. It's the most comprehensive and concise single source of emergency nursing material. It even has sections on communicating for inter/intraagency transfers. Very helpful. It even arrived early.

I highly recommend this book for ANY nurse in the ER. I'm studying for my CEN, and this is the best resource book I've found so far! A lot of pictures, easy to understand, and it covers EVERY emergency medicine topic!! One tip for studying for CEN: Do not waste time with Q&A books until you have solidified your knowledge base- using a comprehensive book like Sheehy's!!! Once you have the knowledge, then go ahead an do questions!

I was required to purchase this book for an Emergencey Nurse Course that I took recently. Very useful and handy reference tool for any one in emergency nursing.

This book is a great resource for preparing for the CEN exam. I started out with the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum but found this book to be a much better book for me. It is logically organized and provides a good overview of each topic before providing details on the managment of each presentation. While it does not cover every detail contained in the CEN exam, it is a great starting point.

Very detailed and organized, a definite must for any nurse interested in working in an emergency room.

This book is written in outline format with no narrative and no rationales. I felt like I was reviewing notes from nursing class again (except without my lovely artwork in the margins).
