Sheep Country [Paperback]

Maynard Lehman (Author)

Available from these sellers.

Book Description

January 2002
In the late 1800s, there was a major sheep and cattle "war" especially in Wyoming. Cattle ranchers each claimed a part of the range as theirs and did not welcome sheep. Tempers often flared and violence was frequent.

That’s the setting of Sheep Country, a realistic fiction story that provides an interesting glimpse into the oft-forgotten rifts that erupted. Kim Demming leaves Seattle after her father’s death to live with her uncle in the "war-torn" part of Wyoming. Caught in the midst of battle, she meets a young cowboy who authentically sees the injustice of the war. As their love blossoms, so does their strategies for winning against the cattle ranchers.

About the Author

Born on a North Dakota horse ranch in 1910, it was natural for M.M. Lehman to grab his boots and pursue the life of a cowboy at age 13. His bio reads like a good Western novel, since his first job required him to help guide over 300 horses across the Missouri River. Since then, he worked for one of the largest horse ranches in the world, broke saddle horses in Alaska and ventured across the country as a truck driver.

Legally blind, Lehman writes using voice-recognition software. He now has three paperbacks and 20 audio books to his credit.
