5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is a Must-Read for Every Wall Street Investor, July 5, 2009
This review is from: The Sheep and the Guardians: Diary of a SEC Sanctioned Swindle (Paperback)
In this era of unprecedented investment theft, this "Diary of a SEC-Sanctioned Swindle" stands out. It details one man's odyssey to discover how thousands of investors were fleeced out of hundreds of millions of dollars by the Syntax-Brillian Corporation. Along his journey he discovers corporate CEOs cooking the books, unethical lawyers who defend them, regulators who ignored his and other investors' cries for intervention, a predatory hedge fund and the complicit bankruptcy judge who was in their pocket.

It is a complex web of deceit and intrigue, yet Ahmed Amr spins an engaging and compelling story. While his book points to a corporate and securities culture so corrupt and a regulatory system so broken, he ultimately gives hope that together--through activism--we can fix the system before it's too late.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for the Savvy investor, October 22, 2009
This review is from: The Sheep and the Guardians: Diary of a SEC Sanctioned Swindle (Paperback)
This book is a must read anyone in the stock market. This two year scam involved illegal conveyance of corporate assets to offshore accounts, embezzlement, money laundering to the Caribbean, fraudulent filings with the SEC , stock price manipulation, and illegal trading. Read about how all the senior officers are now on the run. They can't even be located in Taiwan and some of the money found its way to money laundering havens in the British Virgin Islands. You won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Taiwanese Conspiracy, December 30, 2009
This review is from: The Sheep and the Guardians: Diary of a SEC Sanctioned Swindle (Paperback)
I state without reservation that Syntax Brillian was formed as a result of a Taiwanese conspiracy to defraud the investors of the company. This is a tale of a Taiwanese conspiracy that used the US equities market to bilk investors. They filled the tub here and drained it in Taiwan. Vince Solitto, an American as CEO, proclaimed that this was not one of those private Taiwanese companies like e-machines & Vizio who sets up shop here and transfers the profits to Taiwan then goes out of business then sets up shop again (under a new name). NO, this was a public company! The crime has gotten bolder!

The sad part was that, in order to do what they did, the Taiwanese conspirators needed help (and got it) from entities and persons here in the US. Not only did the Taiwanese conspirators expect to bilk investors and make much more money than they ever would have running a legitimate business, once this round was over they planned on coming back for more (the OIG stalking horse buyer). There was a selfish motive for filing this bankruptcy in the manner in which it was filed as opposed to another manner that would have been more honest.

The next chapters are still being written (as of 12/30/09).

This is a search for justice in legal system that only can be won by the average citizen (non lawyers).
