It's just ok,

The shear looks good. It appears to be well built for most purposes. I found it easily cuts paper, rubber, .1" aluminum and most sheet metal. I'm a little unhappy with the specs listed. There's no way the specs are even close. I was hoping to cut .060 stainless sheet with it and it can't do it. I haven't tried the .046" stainless yet, but It'll probably do ok with that. With the .06", it barely starts to cut and then the upper blade torques away from its backing just enough to trap the stainless between the blades. The rear pivot is the only real attachment and twist control for the upper blade. I may be able to make an upper support to strengthen it, but I didn't buy it to modify it. The specs are a lie. I'll keep it anyway because it's nice for the lighter stuff.

The spring return assist mechanism came off during the 1st hour of use. I could not get the spring back on. I am not returning it due to its bulk and weight. I now use it without the spring assisted return.

I purchased this shear for something not quite its intended use, viz., cutting FR4 (fiberglass) printed circuit boards. PCB-specific shears are far more expensive, and most likely not built quite as well as this---it's made of heavy steel and has a smooth cutting action with plenty of leverage.
It makes clean, straight cuts, the adjustable hold-down is easy to use, and it cuts through PCBs like butter. While I haven't used it on any other materials, it seems clear that sheet metal and plastics will be no problem at all.
