5.0 out of 5 stars Sheet metal fabrication
I have several other books on this subject and I still found it very practical and informative. Articles on shrinking panels very good. Worth buying.

1.0 out of 5 stars look elsewhere, definetly...
I am a metalworker, and a friend loaned this book to me. Lots and lots of photos and talk of tools and shop equipment, and actually little about technique, methods, theory. Some of the "projects" are awful as well. If this is your interest, then buy Fournier's books, and the ones by Remus.

I am a metal fabricator and car builder. I would not recommend this book. The book takes a look at interesting projects with very little applicable information, and a broad overview of tooling. Save your money if you have moderate skills or better and check out Fournier and Remus.

Definately lacking something, I have done the job for 25 years and thought I might pick up something new as I believe you are never to young to learn new techniques. there were'nt any old ones. totally misleading title. I also bought the custom bodywork book by the same author, it was just a rehashed version of this book, many of the same pictures and text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheet metal primer, December 8, 2011
This review is from: Sheet Metal Fabrication: Techniques and Tips for Beginners and Pros (Motorbooks Workshop) (Paperback)
For me, the author was real easy to connect with. The truth is no book will make you proficient in metal working tasks as it takes time and experience and a few pinched fingers until you get the hang of it. That said, Paul's is incredibly well written and illustrated as well as some projects are shown in the book. There is a comprehensive pictorial comment of associated tools that relate to the craft. As a hobby, metal working is not an especially cheap one but Paul covers the basics well. Especially interesting to me was Paul's technique in metal shrinking. His logical approach goes against much of the written opinions on the subject but works for him. I could tell you what it is, but then you would miss the other information -- much of it vital included between the covers. Buy the book -- well worth the price.
