Book Description

Music journalist Kyra Martin faces the toughest assignment of her career--to write a cover story about enigmatic heartthrob David Tallis. Deadline looming, Kyra plans to go undercover. When she ends up under the covers with the sexy superstar instead, can both her career and their budding relationship survive?

With a closet full of skeletons to hide, and a paparazzi-fueled divorce behind him, David Tallis despises the press. When Kyra Martin bribes her way into his life, her sexy assets have him composing a duplicitous seduction. Ensnared in a media maelstrom of his own making, can David face the music? Or will he lose Kyra, along with another piece of himself?

Editorial Reviews

Review

This is the first story I've read by Tibby Armstrong, but after this fireworks display, it certainly won't be my last. Wholeheartedly recommended. --Bella at Fallen Angel Reviews

I was surprised with the depth of emotion that Ms. Armstrong was able to generate between her characters and with how they affected me. It's also one of the most titillating books that I've read in a while. --Maria at Night Owl Reviews

If you ever wanted to date a rock star, Ms. Armstrong has created the most realistic experience I have ever read... I highly recommend this book to keep you warm on the long winter nights ahead. --Anemone at Long and Short Reviews

Tibby Armstrong writes David's character with a visual intensity that translates through the pages creating a spellbinding story. --Sensual Reads

About the Author

Tibby Armstrong began writing stories at age eleven when a kiss in a YA book fell short of her expectations. It was many years before she started dreaming of a career as a full-time romance writer, but she did her prep work early. As a teenager, she snuck Kathleen Woodiwiss novels from her aunt's bookshelves, and devoured a forbidden volume of Victorian erotica.

While she has since broadened her reading tastes to include science fiction, urban fantasy, biographies, and a strange addiction to monographs, her favorite books still feature edgy alpha heroes, and the women (and men) who drive them to distraction.

When she's not writing, Tibby works toward defying librarian stereotypes; yet, she lives with four cats, two computers, and enough books to collapse a poorly engineered house.

She's a music reporter. He's an enigmatic musician. Together they catch fire!

The best erotic fiction that works on a fictional as well as a heat level works because the author makes us give a tinker's dam about the characters. Sure, the build up of passion, heat, and sex are the main selling points for erotic fiction. Its true. But when an author manages to get you to care what happens outside of the bedroom (or kitchen, or...), then you have a keeper. The author has managed to create a work of fiction that just so happens to have a lot of steamy sex in it.

Sheet Music manages that feat.

Kyra is a music reporter. Her assignment is David Tallis, a musician whose life is as much of a puzzle and mystery as the more reclusive music stars in our world. Kyra did not get to her position by giving up, even with such a difficult prospect. David enjoys the paparazzi about as much as a root canal. Kyra has to up her game, and wind up under David's sheets in the process...

What starts off as a seduction turns out to be a case of About Last Night, as David's Past, Kyra's Present, and their very different personalities collide. With plenty of sex in between, Armstrong manages to keep up the story while continuing to charge up the intense encounters between the two main characters. Armstrong doesn't make it easy for the two characters. Growth, and reflection are necessary for both Kyra and David before the denouement.

I didn't think the subject matter would quite appeal to me--I consider myself somewhat musically stunted. Still, I was fascinated by the characters, the setting of London (which I have visited once) felt like the author had did her homework, and well, the encounters between David and Kyra are hot. What more can a reader ask?

I look forward to enjoying more books from Ms. Armstrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sheet Music September 20, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
Sheet Music stands out in its genre due to an incredible sweetness. Kyra and David come into the book bull-headed and ready to tear one another apart to meet their respective goals. Through the course of the novel, they really grow as people and become more compassionate. Watching that transition is a pure joy. Five stars to Tibby Armstrong's debut novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars a great read by a fantastic author April 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I first discovered Tibby when I read No Apologies (if you haven't read that one yet, you really should - like, NOW), so when she told me she had another book out, I immediately jumped on the chance to read it. Unfortunately, because I had so much on my plate with school and family, I wasn't able to pick it up right away. And boy, am I ever kicking myself in the butt for that.

I had some stuff come up that landed me in a spot where all I was able to do was read, so I grabbed for my iPad and pulled up Sheet Music. I was immediately engrossed in David and Kyra's world. I'm pretty sure I had Tibby gnawing off the ends of her fingers because I tend to live tweet as I read, but I was laughing, screaming, crying, and reaching for my ice water trying to cool off (heh) along with the characters.

The one issue I did have with the book was that it felt like David fell for Kyra a little too quickly - but he didn't tell her he loved her. I think he was more intrigued by her, and that's what kept him coming back, despite all the perceived betrayals.

I loved the fact that Kyra had a backbone. If there's one thing I hate, it's a weak-willed heroine, and she's not one of them. There were times I wanted to slap them both simply because I wanted them to talk to each other because I wanted them to be together, but it's because I cared about the characters and I just wanted them to be happy - which is the mark of a great author, IMO.

Another great read by a fantastic author. I've had the opportunity to beta read the sequel, Undercover Lover (which was recently released) and stars David's little sister Jenny and his bodyguard Gunter. Also a must-read. Totally. (UL review is forthcoming)

Indeed it was ok at best. I hated the fact that the two main characters fell in bed so quickly. The storyline was not developed we'll enough.
