5.0 out of 5 stars Seminal acid record.
In one of the reviews on this page the person states that this isn't the Plastikman he once knew. I think it is important to know that this is the CD version of the first Plastikman release, the double 12" of "Sheet One" (which contained Spastik) that came out in 1993 and along with Acperience 1 by Hardfloor was one of the main forces behind the acid...

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastikman's techno beat-fest. Sheet One
I'm actually intrigued by this CD, spellbinding beats meets ambient soundscapes. Power meets ambience. I decided to check-out 'Sheet One' based on a Mojo Magazine reference to 'brilliant psychadelic music', and psychadelic and mezmerizing this is, in a techno sense that is. Plastikman's arrangements are actually minimal, just think a more danceable 'Selected Ambient...

In one of the reviews on this page the person states that this isn't the Plastikman he once knew. I think it is important to know that this is the CD version of the first Plastikman release, the double 12" of "Sheet One" (which contained Spastik) that came out in 1993 and along with Acperience 1 by Hardfloor was one of the main forces behind the acid explosion of 1993 and 1994 that unfortuntely lead to many lesser records featuring drum rolls and 303s. That being said, "Sheet One" is one of Richie's best and most focused records. It is a meditation on acid house stripped bare and laid clean. As far as whether or not it's from Detroit or Windsor... you can't separate the two communities... Richie used to spin on 96.3 in Detroit and at the Shelter (in Detroit) when he was young enough his mother had to drive him over the bridge. This is a seminal record from the early years of the peak of the Detroit scene, 1993-1996.

5.0 out of 5 stars The acid's in the musik, not the liner notes, April 24, 2007
This review is from: Sheet One (Audio CD)
From klikety-klak minimal tracks like "helikopter" to the wide-open minimal spacious acid-trance that is "Plasticine", this album storms. "Plasticity" & "Glob" are worth the price of admission right there; a breakthrough album in every respect.

After a giving a dumbfounded look when asked If I had ever heard this CD, I was soon indulging my senses in the awesome beats Ritchie Hawtin was serving up... I was amazed that the tracks flowed so smoothly and took my senses for a ride inside the synthesized world of PLASTIKMAN. I reccommend this CD to everyone I know and I think everyone should experience the world of PLASTIKMAN. Check out the clips... they're not as good as the whole CD but, It's a start.

I've had it for almost 10 years and I will keep it forever. One of those that you really should have. It's like an old school textbook that taught you everything you know, deserves respect, and the occasional listen on into perpetuity...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what "acid" SHOULD sound like!, May 31, 2002
This review is from: Sheet One (Audio CD)
My CD collection has reached somewhere around 200+ CDs and I can confidently say that this is my favorite out of all of them! This is a CD you can put in and zone out and be perfectly entertained! (I usely watch a special effects-driven movie on mute with Sheet One up loud)
Hauntingly alien ambient melodies with soft yet often locomotive synthetic percussion make up much of this epic masterpiece. Every track transions smoothly from the mellow ambient beginning all the way to the intensive climax of the last two tracks with eerie dialogue samples from what I think is "The Day the Earth Stood Still." I can leave this CD on repeat all day..even after owning it for two years! Just all around outstanding! Acid House revolutionized!

5.0 out of 5 stars still in wait, January 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sheet One (Audio CD)
I ordered this CD back in 12/27/2010. It is currently 1/29/2011 and I am still in wait. The CD itself is great. In fact I've owned it several times throughout the years, but wear and tear, moves, greedy friends and gnomes, as well as the absent mindedness of self tends to result in this beautiful album being lost. Conversely, loosing this gorgeous piece of work while never actually holding and playing it is by far the worst experience I have had! If you ever come across this album in person, I think you would be void of taste and culture if you didn't pick it up (MP3s are cheap knock offs! One should be shot if they believe sound waves versus an album housed in an artistic jacket are the same thing)! With that said, purchasing it on line is a gamble I'm not sure you would want to make.

I have had good experiences with Amazon in the past, but there have been the rare occasions when pleasantries were not mutually shared. The lack of Plastikman's "Sheet One" album is not really an example of an unpleasantry, but more like bending over and taking it with a smile on your face by a group of corporate lawyers who bind customers into that bent position with legal documents and red tape! I am aware that Amazon is nothing more than an online distribution center connecting businesses to customers. However, there is still a large chance of never seeing the products you buy with nothing you can do about it. Now all I can do at the moment is take this matter up with the company who didn't follow through with their purchase and hope that it may be resolved with smiling faces across the board.

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastikman's techno beat-fest. Sheet One, March 27, 2005
This review is from: Sheet One (Audio CD)
I'm actually intrigued by this CD, spellbinding beats meets ambient soundscapes. Power meets ambience. I decided to check-out 'Sheet One' based on a Mojo Magazine reference to 'brilliant psychadelic music', and psychadelic and mezmerizing this is, in a techno sense that is. Plastikman's arrangements are actually minimal, just think a more danceable 'Selected Ambient Works, Vol. 2', speaker-shredding throbbing beats meets techno/post-rock type soundscapes. Ambient music that you can dance to, but cerebral enough to expose a high degree of musical aptitude. Really interesting stuff.

I've been listening to this since I first purchased it back in 94-95. There aren't too many albums that I can say that about.

I pop it in when I am working, surfing, sleeping, driving, eating, and all other activities that one can go about doing during a 24 hour period.
