I picked these up as a "bonus" gift when ordering another product here on Amazon. Since I was receiving them free I didn't expect much... but I was very pleasantly surprised when they arrived! The screwdriver is very comfortable in the hand and the wood handle and heft of the tool give it the pleasing feel of your grandpa's quality tools. As much as I like the screwdriver, I like the knife even more. It is one of the more ingenious designs I have ever seen on a simple razor blade holder. With its folding pocket-knife design, it can easily and comfortably be carried in a pocket until needed, and when opened the blade locks securely in place for safety.
Both of these tools are made of wood and brass and have an extremely good quality feel to them. I highly recommend these as an excellent buy!

I got this set as a bonus item, so the price was right . The 4 way screwdriver is well made and functions as expected. The folding razor knife blade did not lock in position, which is highly disappointing, as it appears to be well made otherwise. The blade is easy to change, but should be done with care to avoid getting cut. Quality wise, this set comes very close to being tools that anyone would prize. In addition to the flaw in the locking mechanism, a few minor imperfections in the shaping of both wood and metal parts keep these tools from reaching their full potential. They are meant to look good as well as function well. These tools are really too good looking for the jobsite or to be thrown in the typical toolbox, even though they are tough enough. Old world look and feel. Good quailty ....for the money.

Since the price was low on these the other day i picked up one for me and my father. they make a great gift he loved it and they sure are well made.
My problem with the screwdriver is that the finish is so slick that it slides in my hand. quick fix is i used some 80 grit sandpaper to rough it up alittle. as for the knife no problems there other then it is heavier then the blue sheffield knife i already had so i will be carrying around the blue one and leave this in my truck.

Many people have received used/dirty items,

Amazon had this as part of several screaming deals in the last couple of weeks, and many people on one of the major "deals" sites got them in combination with various other items. A sizable portion of these buyers received used and/or dirty tools instead of new. Most of us aren't complaining due to the great deal we got, but if I had purchased these at full price, to give as a gift, I would have been more than upset. Especially as the box was re-taped and might have just been wrapped and given without checking if I hadn't read all the complaints.
Mine came in a poorly-re-taped, smashed cardboard box. The utility knife seems pretty cool, and might get some use, after I clean it and replace the blade. The screwdriver is better than most of the interchangable-shaft ones I have around the house - the super-cheap ones have plastic handles, while this has more heft, and a nice solid feel. Both items came scratched and dirty, with black dirt in the crevices and fingerprints clear on the shiny parts. I would give the items themselves 4 stars. However, passing off used, dirty or damaged items as new, especially in something most likely bought for a gift, is pretty appalling, and completely unlike the Amazon I've known and used for so long. I know it's a third-party fulfillment, but Amazon has had enough of a heads-up to pull this until it gets straightened out. I can't give more than one star given the circumstances.

I opened mine, and it is in perfect shape. the knife is very well made, easy to change blades, stays on my belt without any trouble, and feels very strong.
Hard to beat the price. Alex

These are great for the price. I actually got them for free for purchasing another item, but I would be willing to pay the $12 or whatever they're listed for. These are honestly not necessarily very practical as they are way to fancy to be used all the time and thrown in a tool bag in my opinion. They're more for having in a drawer for quick fix-its maybe. Great present for a retired person that wouldn't use them much or even as a trophy item for a carpenter. As I said, they're very fancy. So much so that I don't feel comfortable using them much. Good quality though, very heavy and the screwdrive has a very nice HUGE handle (I have medium sized hands) so they would be very comfortable for a person with larger hands to use.

I received both the 3 Piece and 2 Piece tool sets today. The quality seems to be decent, definitely better than I would have expected for the money. I must warn you, however, that these tools have been used previously. There were small scratches on the metal trim, wear marks on the wood grain, and even full fingerprints on the metal! I purchased these tools for myself and will use them happily, but they are not "new" enough to give as a gift. The person who receives them will definitely think you gave them your old tools.

Good tools, but lousy finish and packaging,

This is a well-made, well-designed set of tools, but someone decided to finish both the brass and wood with wood clearcoat. As a result, the clearcoat was peeling off the brass and I had to buff it off. Second, they stripped one of the screws holding the belt clip, so they attempted to use a larger screw but without tapping the hole. The screw went only halfway into the hole, but the threads on both were stripped smooth. Lastly, there was minimal bubble wrap inside the product package, so they rattled against each other during shipping. There were quite a few knicks on the brass parts of screwdriver handle and on the sides of the knife. A lot of buffing and polishing was required to bring them to presentation quality since this was meant to be a gift.
There is a design error in the knife. The blade release is too close to the stud used to unfold the blade, so if you attempt to open it with your thumb, the blade release often uncatches as well and you have to relatch it. The tab for the blade release should've been placed on the opposite side, and/or shortened. However, for a free gift, this set is still a great value. A lot of work was put into creating them, and it had to be shipped from China as well. Both pieces are very hefty and have that comforting, solid feel. They're a little too pretty to toss in the toolbox though. I might make a felt-lined hardwood presentation box for them.

These are really nicely finished, but opening the knife is a 2 handed affair. Oil didn't make a difference either. If you've got to pull it out of your pocket and then tug with your other hand on the blade holder it makes the tool much less useful. (I bought 2 of these sets and neither knife can be opened with the opening stud alone).
I do like the screwdriver. Reminds me of my grandfather's tools.

The tool set was heavy weight and functional. The brass was scratched up but the wood handles were real nice. I believe this may be a factory "seconds" set, that's why the price was so low. However, the set is still functional.
