Forced to marry...a sheikh!

One passionate night was all it took! Now Lucy is the mother of Sheikh Kahlil's son. If their baby is to inherit the kingdom of Abadan, Kahlil insists that Lucy must marry him!

3.0 out of 5 stars The love scenes were great..., March 17, 2011

This review is from: The Sheikh's Captive Bride (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
but the story overall was lacking in substance. I know...most people would think, don't all romance books lack substance? For all of those you die hard romance lovers we all know that is completely untrue! I tend to lean towards Historical romances myself, but I like to give all romance a fair shot.

The start of this book was odd...Kahlil had an obsession with Lucy right off the bat, it never explains why...the first love scene is immediate, I want to say like page 6??? They just met for god sakes...and what woman just does it with a guy she met only minutes ago? That first off...is odd. Then the story leaps forward 2 years...well ok. Sometimes authors have to do that to progress the story.

Not to give too much away, but the love scenes were great, it was always very hot and passionate...but the development between the two characters was laughing. In most romance novels I've read there's a great deal of self dialogue between the two love interests so that you can see, feel, read the romance blooming. This book focused very little on Kahlil's growing love and more on Lucy's...ok...not terribly unnatural...but the end was SO abrupt! It ends with his confessing...and not ONCE did she tell him. Eh...so as romance's go...of course there was turmoil with instant dislike but insane attraction between the two...followed by a happy ending...

The ending was not that satisfying to me. Mostly because lack of character development and seeing the feelings change on both sides. I gave it three stars because it didn't suck, but it wasn't fantastic.

*End Ramble*
