this album is a compilation album like no other. from track to track, it is truly clear that each of these amazing women, and their musicians, will go far. kristin cifelli's "martyr" rings through your memory long after its over (due partly to rock legend Brad Delp formerly of Boston singing along on backgrounds). and mancain's powerful "please the devil" rocks you to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good showcase of Berklee College talent
Much of this CD is not my style of music but there are definitely some talented artists with promise on the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible!, February 7, 2002
This review is from: Shekinah: 13 Artists (Audio CD)
this album is a compilation album like no other. from track to track, it is truly clear that each of these amazing women, and their musicians, will go far. kristin cifelli's "martyr" rings through your memory long after its over (due partly to rock legend Brad Delp formerly of Boston singing along on backgrounds). and mancain's powerful "please the devil" rocks you to screaming. rhea's relentlessly catchy "with or without" takes hip-hop to the extreme, and alternative diva polina leaves us breathless with her ambient trance track "out of my mind." i could give a warm reaction to each of these 13 tracks, easily. click away! buy this album immediately!

4.0 out of 5 stars The diversity is key..., June 12, 2002

This review is from: Shekinah: 13 Artists (Audio CD)
The strength of this album is its diversity. From rock to folk, and from r&b to electronica, this album has it all. The most important aspect of Shekinah is that it shows the power and assertivness of female singers, songwriters, and musicians that can't be ignored. Pick it up, you'll be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars shekinah - treat your ears, June 11, 2002
This review is from: Shekinah: 13 Artists (Audio CD)
This is a great debut album for Berklee's Heavy Rotation Records. After only two listenings, I was already singing many of the songs...there is really something for everyone on this record. Check out what student talent can achieve...you'd be surprised. This is the next batch of pop stars. Check 'em out so you can say when the time comes that you have been following them for years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eclectic - College and commercial at it's best, June 6, 2002
This review is from: Shekinah: 13 Artists (Audio CD)
A little bit of everything (except jazz) I particularly like Martyr and Bus to You. If this is any indication, things are looking up for women's music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shekinah: Voices to be Reckoned With, June 5, 2002

Any person of the male gender, would probably have a stand-offish initial response towards this Berklee produced all-female compilation. However, one only needs to listen to one track to experience a drastic change of heart. From the very first track to the last, this album delivers with double and triple doses of strength, emotion, and wonderful musicianship. The now widely used phrase "All Killer No Filler" comes to mind. There are so many highlights, it'd take a book to list them all. From Polinas unique brand of vibey electronica, to the emotion driven rock of Cami's "Another Lullaby" (with Bleu at the producers helm); this album combines the best of all musical genres. The turning point of the record comes when Kristin Cifelli quiets the mood for a heart breaking rendition of her original "Martyr". The album wraps up with exceptionally strong tracks from Adrianne, Kyler, and the driving Days of the New-ish "Low" by Amanda Williams.
Not to say that anything on this album is bad, because this record is anything but. A strong Epic debut from this talented group of young ladies. I can't wait to see what Heavy Rotation has in store for my ears next!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, February 5, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Shekinah: 13 Artists (Audio CD)
This album is packed with well-produced, amazing sounds - all by new artists coming out of Berklee College of Music. All of these songs seem to capture an ambience lacking in today's music scene. Though they're all different styles, the tracks shine with authenticity and many are really memorable. This compilation is a great "soundtrack for life."
