I purchased this toy after seeing it recommended in a magazine for Christmas gifts. My 15m old daughter never played with it, despite her parents playing with it. We have watched other kids, too, between the ages of 8m-13m and they don't seem to care much for this toy either.

My 6 mo old loves the song this plays. He hasn't figured out how to work it yet, but he gets really excited when the little arms move and when he hears the music. It almost always gets him to stop fussing for a few minutes.

2010 - Just a followup to this - I put this away for about a year and a half, now that our new baby is 6 mo old, I brought it back out. To my chagrin, it only will now occasionally work. It's still lots of fun, but sometimes the music won't play, sometimes the arms won't move, sometimes nothing at all happens. Not as durable as I originally thought (probably because it is made in China).

My son got this as a gift for Christmas and he loves it. He plays with it all the time. He loves when the legs move and the octopus sings. I love that the balls are soft and there are several different textures. Also, it's not nearly as annoying as so many of those other toys. I can tolerate this on.
