100's are for books on Feelings, Friends and Friendship

600's Airplanes, Cars and Pets

I think this is a great book for 1st and 2nd grade and I think it's a lot of neat information about your library that you can use to locate books that you're looking for. I also think it's nicely illustrated

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun way to explain library organization, November 27, 2009
This review is from: The Shelf Elf Helps Out (Library Binding)
This is a great book to incorporate into your plans to teach your students about how to find books in libraries. I play Chez Dewey ( a game where we pretend the library is a restaurant that serves books-- the customers order books, the waiters bring the order to the chefs at the computer catalog, and the waiters find those books on the shelf). Reading just the intro and the rhyming section for each Dewey section is a great way to give the kids an introduction to the system before they play the game. I use it with 3-5th graders.
