4.0 out of 5 stars Difference to be aware of between this and the zippered one, January 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 10 Shelf Men's Hanging Shoe Organizer (Natural) (50"H x 8"W x 14"D) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this right after buying 10-Shelf Shoe Organizer with Zipper from the same manufacturer. It looked like they were pretty much alike except for the zippered front, but there is another difference to be aware of. The shelves in the zipper front one are fully reinforced with some kind of board between the layers of canvas. This one only has a band of reinforcement at the front edge of each shelf. It feels like a piece of metal or plastic. Right now the canvas is nice and stiff, but I suspect that over time, the weight of the shoes in each section will stretch and loosen the canvas so it sags.

Also be aware that on both of these shoes organizers, the shoes sit directly on cream-colored canvas shelves. I don't anticipate a problem with the zippered one where I'm keeping out of season shoes--I'm putting them away clean or even in their boxes. But this organizer I'm going to be using for shoes I'm wearing every day, and I don't want to have to worry about cleaning off every speck of dampness, leaves or dirt before putting shoes away. So I've decided to put a piece of shelf liner in each section to protect the shelves, and maybe even a piece of cardboard in each section underneath the liner.

I'd definitely recommend both of these organizers because of the 8-inch width, but you definitely get more for your money with the zippered one.

Richard's Homewares, Inc. makes one of the better men's shoe organizers to keep shoes and other footwear from cluttering up your closet floor; this product lets you store up to ten sets of shoes in a relatively narrow space while it hangs in your closet. This is especially useful and important when you wish to quickly pick out a pair of shoes, sneakers, sandals or even slippers. It's made for men but obviously women can use it.

One big plus is that this shoe organizer can easily be set up and it simply hangs in your closet without taking up too much extra space as it stores your footwear. It hangs on actual hangers that are part of the shoe organizer; and I prefer this to shoe and garment organizers that use a Velcro strap at the top to keep the bag hanging in the closet.

The bag is open in the front. This is both a plus and a minus. On the bright side, you can quickly and easily see which pair of footwear is where so you never waste time finding the right pair of footwear for the day or night. On the not-so-bright side, the open, unprotected front allows footwear you use less often to get dusty. You'll have to keep them clean even though they're organized. I would have preferred a show organizer that had a zipped up front made of see through material.

I notice that another reviewer had the very creative idea of using this to store her purses and belts. You can certainly do that; in fact you can use this to store anything that will fit inside the ten compartments.

This product is especially good for people who use up to ten pairs of footwear frequently. If you use several pairs of footwear less often I would encourage you to find an organizer that has a protected see through front that zips up and keeps the dust out.

This review is from: 10 Shelf Men's Hanging Shoe Organizer (Natural) (50"H x 8"W x 14"D) (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered this after looking through other similar items. The dimensions of this product are great to keep men's shoes or bigger ladies shoes. All in all the product is great.

Amazing product finally a hanging organizer that fits not only one but 2 shoes in each pocket and not just any 2 shoes it fits 2 mens shoes. I love it I had been looking for one for a while because we have one of the smaller that only fits one shoe and i hated it so no that one is for sandals. Would definately recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a shoe organizer? Choose this one!, February 2, 2011

This review is from: 10 Shelf Men's Hanging Shoe Organizer (Natural) (50"H x 8"W x 14"D) (Tools & Home Improvement)
Before I bought this one, I researched other hanging shoe organizers and the reviews all said the same thing - you can only fit one big shoe per shelf (pretty ridiculous) and/or too flimsy. This one lived up to the reviews. I can fit a pair of my boots in one shelf (folded over). And most of my boyfriend's shoes, only pair it did not fit was a pair of his "high top" style shoes. I also use it for other things such as hats and purses! The shelves aren't stiff as boards, there's a little bit of sag, but not bad. I liked the first one I bought for my bedroom closet, I bought another one for the hallway closet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite as wide as advertised, December 24, 2008

The product appears to be well constructed, but the shelf is 7.5" wide rather than 8" (8" includes outside stitching) and is a tight fit for larger men's shoes (mine is size 11). A bit disappointed, but did not see any models with wider shelf capacity.

I bought two of these organizers to replace a crappy plastic and metal one that I purchased from the container store years ago that wouldn't stay together anymore. Great item I must say! Just great!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have big feet and it works well for soft top shoes, April 22, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 10 Shelf Men's Hanging Shoe Organizer (Natural) (50"H x 8"W x 14"D) (Tools & Home Improvement)
MY USE: My shoe size is 13 (USA) and all are XXX or XXXX wide. This hanging shoe rack does a great job in holding 10 pairs of LARGE SOFT SIDED shoes (ECCO) and tennis shoes (New Balance). As my shoes are large, I insert each pair of shoes packed toe-to-heel with tops against each other (soles pointing to outside) as when packed in a shoebox. I thus simply insert each pair sideways and shoe tops somewhat scrunched together. If you have large-sized HARD TOP shoes that require polish, however, I suspect you will have difficulty in comfortably fitting both the left and right of a pair into a single slot, as I believe one review may have already said.

CONSTRUCTION: Overall, this is a quality tailored and durable shoe rack. It is made with medium weight canvas with strong stitching, and barely deforms at all when hanging. A metal rod is sewn within the front seam of each floor panel to add rigidity and strength where it is needed most. The rack is supported by an open rectangular metal rod frame placed under the roof panel of the topmost compartment. The two metal hangers attach to this inner frame and pass upwards through brass reinforced eyelets in the roof panel. Depending on your environment (I live near the ocean), it is unclear to me if the metal hangers might corrode or not with time. The rack takes only a minute to assemble, but you should follow the included instructions to make sure the metal frame is properly oriented to preserve its strength.

PRACTICALITY: I live in a condo and space is an issue. I am very glad I opted to buy this vertical hanging canvas shoe rack, rather than a traditional rack that sits on the floor and takes up horizontal closet floor space. I've always had problems with shoes sliding or falling off floor standing shoe racks (both vertical peg and flat shelf types) which look so messy, and with the hanging rack the floor beneath can be vacuumed or swept clean with no fuss!

VERDICT: Highly recommended.
