Retold Chinese Folk Tale,
This review is from: The Shell Woman and the King: A Chinese Folktale (Hardcover)
Folk rather then Fairytale. Not recommended for young children. Story line follows traditional lines right through the ending. One unusual occurrence is Uncle Wu bragging about the extraordinary. The paintings might be considered as surpassing the writing. This person has been spoiled with beauty of hands in other Chinese illustrations that is not matched in this book. Probably overly critical.
