I try to be very forgiving when I review a game. I know how complicated and stressful the terms are for the designers/programmers.
This game just cannot be excused. Here are the major problems with this game - 1- The graphics are fair, but chunky, stiff and dated. 2- Gameplay is completely SCRIPTED. 3- Gameplay is clumsy and awkward. 4- Weapons are terribly inaccurate, even from 5 feet away! 5- User Interface is frustrating, switching weapons is too difficult. 6- Story line and voice-acting are pretty lame. The graphics are not impressive at all, the jungle environment is linited to the paths and directions the designers want you to take...this means you always walk into traps! You must progress through to your objective, if you don't, the enemies don't stop coming...they are constantly spawned over and over and you'll die! So even though the game teaches you to hide behind cover...you can't because your forced to charge the enemies to make them stop getting spawned...YIKES! The weapons are terrible. I can stand 5 feet away from an enemy with an M16 or AK-47 and completely miss my target with short bursts to control recoil! Talk about driving you insane! Then when your in the heat of battle you cannot switch quickly to another wepaon, the guy has to slooooowly holster/shoulder his weapon, then take out the other weapon. By then, your dead! On top of all of that...you have to play in 3RD person!!!!!!!!!! About 10 minutes of playing wil have your stomach churning from nauseau and dizziness. This game could have been lemonade....I guess the development team was too lazy to squeeze so we are left sucking lemons! SAVE your $$$...buy Call of Duty, Call of Duty:United Offensive...Medal of Honor, Battlefield Vietnam, Star Wars Battlefront....anything is a better choice! Don't believe me? Download and try the demo out. Do a Google search for "ShellShock: Nam '67 reviews" and see the low scores it gets! Judge for yourself but don't shell out your money right away based on the box cover!

Look at the name of the game "shellshock" after playing i have to agree this is the way you feel. yes, some of the graphics are grainy but i get the feeling it was meant to be this way, it stays true to the old saying "fog of war". This game is definately gritty. Ambushs, traps, and snipers(can be a real pain) i enjoyed this game but, have a good processor and graphics card or at least a good card if you have a 700 mhz cpu to compensate are neccesities. I've read alot of reviews which dont do this game justice. it's got a good variety and weapons, enemies are relentless and a good 60's soundtrack to boot. If your a war game lover or are into nam movies like platoon,or Tour of Duty you'll like this game. First vietnam game i have played that has the gorey and violence attributed to Vietnam.I'd put this game on par with Call of duty. Pick it up!

This game has excelent and realistic gameplay. You get to play as a Grunt in the Vietnam War and later be recruited by the Special Operations. There are traps you must disable and more. The reason why I rated it 4 out of 5 stars is that right when the game was at its best it ended. There should be more missions or multiplayer to improve the game.Other than that ShellShock Nam '67 is a great game.<br />

I loved this game. I don't get you people, how do you not like it. This game has the best graphics yet, alot better than Medal of Honor. The game describes the harsh realities of war. Also in lots of games you can't jump, like Conflict desert storm, vietcong purple haze, and conflict vietnam. The game may be a little short but there are long missions and they're tough. If i was you i'd buy this game, I did and I'm happy. Buy it now

Considering the heavy processing power needed for the PC version, the graphics are not very impressive. The gameplay is boring, the AI is horrible, the only good thing about the game is the sound. You certainly don't get the feeling that your fighting in a jungle, more like the back woods of N. Carolina or something. Save your money. If you're looking for a good shooter get Far Cry, it's awsome. If you absolutely must have this game, give it a few months and it'll be $9.99 before you know it.

With so many obstacles in the game, wouldn't it make sense for your soldier to be able to jump over them? This is the only first person shooter I've played that doesn't allow the character to jump. Overall the game has some new things I haven't seen before like explicit traps and people getting limbs shot off, but the gameplay is horrible and not much fun. I'm returning mine today.

The Skinny:
Taking a different route than conflict: vietnam or men of valor, travels a gritter road flagged with prostitutes, assasination, and a grainy, sepia-toned filter. AS A NEW RECRUIT YOU'LL WORK YOUR WAY UP FROM DANGEROUS GROUND BATTLES IN THE JUNGLES TO MORE ELITE-RANKING ASSIGNMENTS THAT WILL HAVE YOU TAKING OUT VIETCONG OFFICERS AND PARTICIPATING IN NIGT MISSIONS. YOUR PERFORMANCE ON THE BATTLEFIELD WILL EARN YOU CHIP POINTS WHICH CAN BE USED TO BUY THING ON THE BATTLEFIELD. FAQ: q- first person or third person? a- third person. q-number of missions? a-12 (by the way men of valor also has 12 sorry!) q-historically accurate? a- no. q- number of weapons? a- 28 q-guys nicknamed cherry? a-YES... q-booby traps to disarm? a- yes NOTE- Guerrilla is also working on the "halo killer" (sure...) FPS, Killzone for PS2. Click on my name to see my other GREAT REVIEWS!!! and e-mail me if you want game info: Guneagle5000@wmconnect.com THANK YOU.

I had great expectations for this game. Unfortunately it didn't live up to them. The artificial intelligence is ridiculous, and after you've gone through all levels that's pretty much it. It has limited replay value. On the other hand, if you like arcade style action with lots of gratuitous violence, this is your game. It does an especially good job of representing atrocities against prisoners of war and innocent civilians. If you feel like it, you can even slit peoples' throats. Be prepared for blood, gore, and miscellaneous body parts flying everywhere. All in all it's more than a little over the top.
