A bigger than life talent, Ms. Winters was a mammoth personality. This biography successfully chronicles her many tastes and serves up a piping hot tribute to her gargantuan film legacy. Ms. Winters suffered no fools and hated juvenile attempts at humor. For that, I will always remember her fondly.

Very entertaining, but she slept with, roomed with, or met everyone, and reveals nothing. Also, she spends much of the book on her short marriage to Gassman, and she remembers every food item she ever ate, every article of clothing. Greater suspension of disbelief than normal is needed for this one.

1 I refuse to believe that Shirley aka Shelley had perfect intimately detailed recall on everything that ever happened to her. I, therefore, take a lot of what was written here with the attitude that it makes for a good story.

2 A major cop-out wasting time on drivel - heck, this book was over 500 pages- and not giving us any detail on the making of her two Oscar winners nor gems from The Diary of Anne Frank or the Poseidon Adventure.

3 She made her own bed (with supposedly a lot of guys) and slept in it. There were several times I wanted to grab her and shake her for acting like a baby and an idiot. Like I said, makes for a good story.

4 So why do I give it 4 stars instead of less? Because, like I said, it makes for a good story especially if you like to be entertained and don't care whether it is true or not. That's why they have both fiction and non-fiction sections at the library, ya think?

This could of been a very good book as shelley winters led a very interesting life.....but several problems arise with this book......number 1, she is a major exagerrater so sometimes you dont know when to beleive her....2. she's one of those writers who feels the need to share every little tedious detail....details which could have easily been skipped 3. her judgement is often terribly annoying 4. she give's off a vibe of, "wasnt i just precious??"
5. the book abruptly stops at age 34......after 500 freaking pages!!!

She was a brilliant mind in an attractive package. Her memory is remarkable as well as her experiences.
