The Kingsmen do an absolutely fabulous job on their most recent project, Shelter. They explore various musical moods and do each to perfection. Their first single release starts the project off on their classic straight-ahead quartet sound. Then the title cut has a hint of Celtic type music, and is a very powerful song. Parker Jonathon, the group's baritone, does an extremely good job on what I think is the most powerful cut on the album, What I Found At the Altar. Somebody Run, the next song, is very uptempo and exhibits Bryan Hutson's excellence at singing the fast ones. The next song is also sung by Bryan and has an excellent arrangement. The old Statesmen song, Meet Me Up In Heaven Someday (never recorded by the Statesmen, but they sang it)proves that this group ranks up there with the best. Jerry Martin turns in an excellent job on both songs he sings, "Sweet Peace" and "Heaven Is More Than A Dream" (another beautiful song). Missing Children is a song that invokes some strong emotions. I'm Going To Rise is another Kingsmen classic type song, and Way Down Inside of Me will send chill bumps up the spine of anyone who loves to hear excellent quartet harmony. Blessed Hill really shows off the talent of lead, Bryan Hutson. The closing cut is performed by Randy Miller, and is one of his best. This is a definite must-have for any serious quartet enthusiast.
