Book Description

A 24-page story from The Mammoth Book of Hot Romance, 2011, plus excerpts from contemporary romance/women's fiction novels by Patricia Ryan. When a handsome stranger rescues Maryann from a storm, she let him think she’s a prostitute. A night of abandoned, no-strings lovemaking might be just what the jilted schoolteacher needs—if only she can keep from falling for her sexy rescuer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot! Hot! Hot! March 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The very foundation of this deliciously spicy novella is based on one of the top ten sexual fantasies of women everywhere. No, I'm not going to divulge the fantasy because I don't want to spoil anyone's fun. Patrica Ryan has deftly written a short story that encompasses much more than a mere sexual encounter; there's emotion here, and lots of it. The characters are well-fleshed and engaging, and while the story has a fresh, contemporary feel, I have to admit that the traditional happily-ever-after ending made me smile. Highly recommended!

Good story, but on the kindle version it is only takes 21% of the length. For free, a cute, sexy read

4.0 out of 5 stars There's something cleansing about a storm July 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Marianne plans on surprising her boyfriend on their one year anniversary. In an effort to be more spontaneous and the sex kitten that Alan wants, she thinks dressing up and waiting in his bed for him to return from his Friday night poker game is the way to go. She isn't the only one who has a surprise. When she finds herself alone, and caught in a hail storm, a sexy stranger comes to her rescue. (Un)Fortunately for her, he mistakes her for a prostitute based on her state of (un)dress. He seems to be exactly what she needs to overcome her plummeting self esteem.

The author wrote a lovely little fantasy tale with very likeable characters. Rob and Marianne move very quickly (this was after all a 15 minute read), but the passion more than made up for having to suspend disbelief to see them get their happy ending. After this short taste, I would read more by this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shelter from the Storm (80% other excerpts) May 31, 2013
By Tina
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Picked this up as a freebie. Its okay, Maybe 20 percent is actually the story and the remainder is excerpts of other stuff (which I skipped, If I want commercials, I'll watch prime time TV. The story was not very remarkable, it was predictable. Not bad, but nothing to recommend it either. Mehh.

3.0 out of 5 stars ... March 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I only read Shelter from the Storm and not all the other short stories so my review is only for that story. I understand that the story is a short story but I was expecting something more like 3-4 chapters. The story itself is only one chapter and ends at 21%. SPOILERS: Within the first couple pages, the main character is being "intimate" with a complete stranger. Keep in mind they don't know anything about each, they haven't even exchanged a complete sentence. The characters end up falling for each and plan to stay together at his home. The end. This does not speak romantic to me, nor erotic, it speaks unrealistic. Sad excuse for a story.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok Fast Read, Lack Luster Ending December 31, 2012
By Farrah
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's easy to follow the story and the characters. The storyline seemed a bit unrealistic so that make it "blah" for me. The ending was disappointing and abrupt to say the least.

I wouldn't recommend.
