Product Description

Amazon.com

ShelterLogic's most popular canopy, the 10-by-20-foot Max AP canopy is a great choice for seasonal vehicle storage, backyard events, family camping trips, craft fairs, or special events.

The Max AP canopy is more than just a car shelter.
The canopy features a heavy-duty, 1-3/8-inch-diameter, all-steel frame with a Dupont Thermoset baked-on powder-coated finish that prevents chipping, peeling, rust, and corrosion. The canopy also includes wide footplates on each of the eight legs to ensure easy access to the secure anchor points. Together, the construction features create a sturdy, long-lasting canopy that holds up to virtually any weather condition.

The fitted, fully valanced polyethylene cover is every bit as sturdy. The cover is 100-percent waterproof with engineered triple-layer and ripstop fabric features. It's also UV treated inside and out with fade blockers and anti-agent and anti-fungal agents. All told, the cover's 50+ UPF rating blocks more than 98 percent of harmful UV rays, so your car, boat, or outdoor furniture will stay protected. Plus, the Max AP canopy sets up quickly and easily, with built-in, slip-together swedged tubing and Twist Tite tensioning squares.

The Max AP canopy comes with a steel frame, a one-piece fitted cover, eight footplates, SL bungee cords, temporary spike anchors, and easy step-by-step instructions.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice, solid canopy, but packaging blows, December 11, 2008
By
I bought one of these this past summer and found it well-designed, solidly built, easy to install, and, overall, a good value for the money (even including the $63 shipping). My only gripes with the product itself are minor: (1) the anchor-ropes do double duty as anchors and as tighteners for the canopy material, which makes it tricky to optimize both (i.e., it would be nice to have tight anchor-ropes as well as a tightly attached canopy, but the mechanism involves twisting a spiral-bound leg, which tightens one end of the rope while loosening the other); and (2) the structural pieces are friction-joined, and our driveway's very slight slope coupled with some occasional wind was enough to pop loose one of the T-couplers at the top, which left a 10-foot section of steel pipe dangling over our car. (I plan to epoxy some velcro straps across the upper joints to make sure that problem doesn't recur.)

The packaging, however, is seriously defective. I ordered a second canopy last week, and just like the first one, one end of the box had torn open and was spilling pipes when it arrived. This time it was clear that one of the pipes had fallen all the way out and had been shoved back into the hole by the shipper; the paint at the protruding end was chipped and showing evidence of having struck concrete, while the bubble wrap at the other end was scrunched up (away from the hole). In neither case were any pieces actually missing, and as long as the chipped end doesn't start rusting within the next year or two, I don't consider the damage severe enough to request a replacement. I do find it surprising, however, that the company didn't stress-test the packaging--if I'm zero for two, this has to be a fairly widespread problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job., August 8, 2009
I put it up about a month ago and it's what should be expected for the cost. Comes with guy-lines for four corners and four spikes (should have ten spikes, one for each leg and four for the lines). Powdercoating quality: 6 out of 10. Tarp quality: same.
Quick hint...assemble the roof truss' first and attach the tarp while it's on the ground and lift to one side then the other to install the legs. Very easy for two people...not so much by yourself. And make sure it's a low wind day.

1.0 out of 5 stars A WASTE, December 16, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you live in a place with no wind, I'd buy it. If you live in a place with wind and rain, I wouldn't waste my time. It looks great in the picture, but the structure is weak and the fabric will wear down after less than a year. Mine kept blowing away even after concrete posts were put next to the frames.
