Cassie Tate is a veterinarian who has helped many people with the pet therapy she started. Unfortunately the same could not help her after her husband Sam Monford IV left her pregnant and alone almost 10 years ago and she lost the baby. She does not like it when her former in-laws tell a bunch of people that their son is coming home.

Sam Monford comes back with several surprise, a little girl traumatized by the death of her parents (who were Sam's good friends) and the fact that he is the author of a famous cartoon based on the people of Shelter Valley.

Cassie does not want to have anything to do with Sam, but Mara needs her help. With Cassie and the help of her dogs she gets Mara to open up.

During this time Sam and Cassie discuss what happened the decade before and find that the spark never left them. Even though Cassie thought that she could never have children, after one night she finds that she is pregnant.

THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK I'VE READ BY TTQ, AND IT WON'T BE MY LAST!I LOVED THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT SHOWS THAT TRUE LOVE AND FORGIVENESS CAN BE SO POWERFULL! EVEN THOUGH SAM MADE A TERRIBLE MISTAKE THAT COST HIM SO DEARLY, I THOUGHT HE WAS THE MOST WONDERFULL CHARACTER I HAVE EVER READ IN A NOVEL. I CAN'T WAIT TO READ TTQ OTHER BOOKS. THIS AUTHOR IS AMAIZING!!!!!!
