4.0 out of 5 stars I love mine
I don't understand the other review. I have one of these in grey and I love it. I tuck it into my lunchbox or purse. I have used it to check out wildlife in the mountains, boats on the ocean, people at the pool on the other side of the resort, even to read the names on the uniforms of the pitchers warming up on the other side of the ballpark. I admit it took some...

1.0 out of 5 stars This item is useless.
Wow! A 6X monocular that is only 2 1/2 inches long and wieghs only 2.2 ounses! It sounds too good to be true. In fact, it is too good to be true. Imagine trying to hold a 2 1/2 inch object steady so the image doesn't shake. Then imagine trying to hold it steady while you have to turn it 3/4 to a complete revolution while trying to get it into focus. Trust me, it...

I have used it to check out wildlife in the mountains, boats on the ocean, people at the pool on the other side of the resort, even to read the names on the uniforms of the pitchers warming up on the other side of the ballpark. I admit it took some getting used to in order to quickly find what you are looking for but I learned quickly. I have trouble with double vision with regular binoculars and this works much better for me. In fact, I have taken great pictures by holding it in front of the lens of my digital camera. It is so small and lightweight, and if you get the hang of it, it is a fantastic tool.

Imagine trying to hold a 2 1/2 inch object steady so the image doesn't shake. Then imagine trying to hold it steady while you have to turn it 3/4 to a complete revolution while trying to get it into focus. Trust me, it can't be done. What makes matters worse is that the optics are terrible. The image never comes into crisp focus and it is dark due to the small objective lense. I am surprised that Audubon allows thier name to be placed on such bad optics. This item really is useless. If you don't care if the optics are crummy then buy a $10 monocular on ebay (it will probably be much better than this one). If you want good optics then I recomend looking at the Brunton monoculars. They are slightly larger, but the image will be better than most compact binoculars.
