Excellent,
By De _ilo "De_ilo" (South Africa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Shepherd Moon (Paperback)
This book is still a favourite today, and possibly the best written by HM Hoover. It resonates because I read it as a white child growing up in South Africa in the 1980's - and the society she describes in the book was incredibly simular to the one I lived in then.

A fascinating world, but a bit bare on plot.,
By The Bookish Professor (The Wild West) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Shepherd Moon (Hardcover)
Hoover is an excellent writer; the world she has built could supply the background for a novel several times the length. Unfortunately, the plot never quite comes together; events seem to occur with the main character an observer rather than an actor.
