More About the Author

Award Winning Author,Philip Shafer, was born in Ohio and raised in La Jolla, California. He has degrees from the University of Idaho, San Diego State, and the University of Southern California. His varied career includes Naval Aviator, and flying commercial helicopters reporting freeway traffic, sightseeing tourist, and crop dusting. He was a history teacher, planning consultant, campaign manager, Chief of Staff for a City Councilman, Chief Executive Officer for an Air Pollution Control District, and served as both a corporate Secretary and Chief Financial Officer. Philip Shafer has traveled widely in the Far East and extensively in France. Of curious interest, he is a California certified "Smoke Reader."
Philip wrote technical documents and political literature, even the crossword puzzle for a community newspaper, but in 1999 he started writing fiction. The result was a multi-generational saga covering more than 70 years and spanning East Asia, Africa, Europe and North America: Paris and St Tropez; Hanoi and Saigon; Algeria and Cameroon; Guadalajara, San Diego, Palos Verdes, and Catalina. The novels are mystery-romance thrillers. My Own Back Yard Publishing ( ) has released nine of Philip's novels. The last, "Legacy," ending the saga, came out in late 2014. Ebooks are anticipated beginning in 2015.
Philip Shafer lives in the beach community of San Diego.
