Great movie. Even greater second part,

I must have seen this movie a million times. When I first saw it was back in the 8o's, and then I had the chance of seeing its second part "Why did you Pick On Me?". That one was hilarious too, and involved a group of aliens who were trying to kidnap the "satellite kid". I wonder why they did not reissue that movie too.

This is the perfect movie to show to your children. My 3rd grade teacher brought this movie to school and let the class watch it at the end of the school year. This movie was funny and full of Love. It may be old but it will still teach young eyes a great lesson.

I remember this movie from when I was a small child, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was great to watch it again as an adult, and even though it is quite clearly dubbed, as the original was in Italian, its still entertaining, and a great kids film. Was lovely to watch it again after all these years.

This Movie was a little hard to get and a little more money than I usually pay for a DVD. That say
something of what I thing of it. I think it is cute slapstick entertaining. In other words a lot of fun. It gives you a chance to see the boy from close encounters of the third kind again.

This movie was filmed outside of Atlanta Georgia - partially at the Six Flags and partially at Stone Mountain. Filmed in English with a number of Italian actors including the lead - Bud. The film probably had the voices looped in English after the fact. Although everyone appears to be speaking English.
It's written and filmed by an Italian crew and has a lower production level then the lower budget films Disney made in the 70s. But it's a much more enjoyable and then imaginative then those films - as the story and character parts are written, with so many funny moments, good natured jokes, family friendly feel, unpretentious, and with two very charismatic and likable leads - that you just can't help but love the little film for what it is. The simple story is about the relationship between a big burley understated Georgian Sheriff and a tiny, temperamental, humanish but well meaning Extraterrestrial. Combine ET with Smokey And The Bandit. It appears that the two leads hit it off off-screen because there is no way to fake the chemistry that comes through between the two on-screen. This film shows what can be done with little money if you have a film making crew that really cares. The only complaint is - as usual for these low budget commercial films - the print and sound is not pristine. I'm giving the film four stars because the film makers did what they set out to do - they produced a family friendly, funny, unpretentious little film - for very little money. Id give it an extra star for a perfect print and sound. The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid is a little commercial film - but it still a lost gem and deserves to be seen more widely.

I remembered this film in my childhood. The catchy soundtrack writed by the De Angelis brothers on the credits and the foolish acting by Spencer and the stunts. As all Italian productions in the US has the standard of all the flicks like this.An alien kid played by Cary Guffey(the kid of Spielberg's Close Encounters in The Third Kind)is left on Earth by an UFO.Newnan Sheriff played by grizzly Spencer founds it and he must protect him from the military air force coast guard inepts led by Capt Briggs. The fight scenes are standard in all Spencer films. His English spelling denotes his italian accent.
I passed a good time watching it.

The Sheriff and The Satellite Kid
The product had not arrived a week after the due date. When I queried this with Amazon, I was informed that the item was lost and that because my Debit Card had expired, that i would need to re-order the item. I was also informed that I would receive a full refund on the original order. I did re-order the item at a much higher delivery charge on top of which delivery was to be up to 3 months. I then decided to cancel this order and place another order with anopther seller. In the meantime I received my initial refund, however, due to the exchange rate, I actually received a refund of .79p less than I had initially paid on top of this, when I cancelled the second order, I also lost out by £1.95. I was then very surprised when the initial order actually arrived. I then proceeded to cancel the latest order which thankfully went through without any glitches. I was very pleased to find that due to the mix ups and inconvenience, I was not recharged for the original order. However, whilst I may continue to use Amazon, I will certainly think twice about ordering from America especially as a full refund does not mean a full refund, depending on the current exchange rates. |
