From the time she was a toddler, Barbara found herself fascinated by those things her mom called "books." Once she learned the words between the covers held the magic of storytelling, she wanted to see her words in print so she could weave that spell for others.

Barbara wrote her first short story at the age of nine, then typed "The End" to her first novel many years later...in the eighth grade.

She's been a writer ever since. And now, she's thrilled to have become a Harlequin author with her very own books in print.

She hopes you will enjoy reading her stories and will find your own storytelling magic in them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Life and love in small town USA, January 28, 2007
This review is from: The Sheriff's Son (Harlequin American Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
It's been eight years since Sarah last saw Tanner. They'd been childhood friends, teenage sweethearts, and on graduation night, they'd shared one night as lovers. He left town soon afterwards - leaving Sarah heartbroken and unknowingly pregnant with his son. Tanner's returned to Dillon, Texas as the deputy sheriff and is completely clueless that he's the father of Sarah's unruly son.

Sarah Lindstrom is struggling with the financial responsibilities and stress of operating a bookstore and raising a seven-year-old son by herself. As if the bills weren't enough to worry about, since the new school year started Kevin is constantly in trouble for one thing or another. Just when she thought things couldn't get any worse, it does. The new town deputy sheriff, Tanner Jones escorts Kevin into her bookstore to inform her of her son's latest trouble making stunt - egging his patrol car.

Tanner Jones presence in town terrifies Sarah. He still has the power to affect her emotionally and physically. Sarah's never told anybody that Tanner is Kevin's father, but she knows that the resemblances they share are a dead giveaway to anybody who sees them together. She doesn't count on the "helpfulness" of the local townspeople who have done the math and know exactly who is the father. They are determined to get Tanner and Sarah back together . . . and they aren't very subtle about it either. What will happen when Tanner learns that Sarah's little boy is also his son?

Barbara White Daille makes her literary debut with THE SHERIFF'S SON. This charming tale will have readers smiling their way through each of Tanner and Sarah's confrontations over Kevin and will fall in love with their son, Kevin. I had to laugh about the interfering townspeople. If you've ever lived in a small town, you know there's no keeping a secret. Everybody knows everyone else's business. Ms. Daille adds a touch of suspense that is delightful and kept me reading until I found out why Kevin was getting into so much trouble and how Tanner is going to handle that situation. This is a fun family-oriented story that I truly enjoyed.
