5.0 out of 5 stars Why Are Japanese Crazy about Sherlock Holmes?, December 31, 2005
This review is from: Sherlock Holmes in Japan (Paperback)
First, let me say that I'm the author of this book. Why did I write it? To try to communicate the passion Japanese people have for the Sherlock Holmes stories.

While living in Japan throughout the 1990s I attended the Japan Sherlock Holmes club in Tokyo. At that time there were 1200 active members scattered around Japan. Most of them knew the stories inside and out. Many have fabulous collections of Sherlockian. They wrote a pile of new books about Sherlock Holmes each year. They made the first standing life-sized bronze statue of Holmes.

The closer I got the more fascinated I became. I started writing a newsletter in English telling the rest of the Sherlockian world about Japan's interest. Then, at the close of my 8 years in Japan I put together this book as an insider's record of Sherlock Holmes in Japan.

Collectors take note: it's still selling in first edition, first printing copies.

Enjoy!
