4.0 out of 5 stars The best Holmes and Watson ever? That's Elementary, April 9, 2001
By
This review is from: Sherlock Holmes: Woman in Green/Dressed to Kill [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Sherlock Holmes may be the most filmed fictional character in cinematic history. But the best Holmes and Watson ever is assuredly Basil Rathbone as the super sleuth, and Nigel Bruce as the good doctor. The chemistry of the stars, the atmosphere of mystery, and the old fashioned battle of good versus evil never fails to entertain in the 14 films these two did together as Holmes and Watson. Their first two outings -- The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes may remain the best, but this Double Feature of Dressed to Kill and The Woman in Green contain all the elements that make this series so much fun. There's the genial humor, the fast paced suspense in a fog covered London, and creepy aristocratic villians. It all good fun, so make some popcorn, turn down the lights, and enjoy the kind of films they just can't make anymore.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sherlock Holmes review, April 23, 2003

I like any of the Rathbone/Bruce movies but the picture quality of these videos is not very good: fuzzy, off center and too big for a 20" TV screen. You get what you pay for.
