A fun little reference book for Holmes fans but not of vital import,

This review is from: Sherlock Holmes: In His Own Words and in the Words of Those Who Knew Him (Hardcover)
Piecing together quotes from Doyle's stories, Barry day basically creates a kind of mini-autobiography of Holmes; a fun read but it doesn't really add too much for the hardcore fan. By arranging quotes from the stories under chapter headings like "My Brother Mycroft" and "221b: Some Nice Rooms" Day creates the feeling of an in depth interview, but due to the scattered nature of the quotes there is only so much about the character that can be examined without further speculation on the part of the writer; Holmes just doesn't have that much to "say" about himself. It's fun, but basically dispensable.
