5.0 out of 5 stars Okay...I've only had it ONE day...
BUT I LOVE THIS THING!! For less than $..., I got an entertainment hub that can handle VCR, cassette tape, DVD and CD players, along with AM and FM tuner, 105 watts a channel and a great name from hi-fi's past to boot! The lush, spatial stereo this unit provides will probably have me buying Sherwood amplifiers, preamps or receivers until some Japanese or Dutch electronics...

3.0 out of 5 stars 5 Audio Inputs...But not for your Phonograph
This Amplifier is worth the $100. Although the specs claim to have 5 Audio Inputs...Including a TV/AUX, You will need to Purchase a Pre-Amplifier if you plan to use a TurnTable.
The Amp I was replacing was OLD...Before Remotes...and had a Max Output of 50 Watts Per Channel...But the Phonograph was Plug and Play. In today's world, CD's have virtually replaced...

The lush, spatial stereo this unit provides will probably have me buying Sherwood amplifiers, preamps or receivers until some Japanese or Dutch electronics giant buys them up, (if they haven't already!)

Remote control, tonal adjustments from across the room, etc., etc.....you can't ask for more than that for $...!! There's even a provision for surround sound!

In the sixities and seventies, Sherwood equipment always did have a great reputation, and they were never expensive, either. I guess they're carrying that tradition into the 21st century.

The Amp I was replacing was OLD...Before Remotes...and had a Max Output of 50 Watts Per Channel...But the Phonograph was Plug and Play. In today's world, CD's have virtually replaced Albumns, so it is no longer necessary to have a pre-amp for the majority of purchasers...but if Customer Service had informed me when I called for advise, I would not have waited 2 weeks thinking I had an Unreturnable(Received for Christmas...30 Day Return Policy...Mother purchased in Nov.)Unit which would not serve my needs.
The Pre-Amp is available from Phonopreamps.com for about $27.00.
After all was said and Done I had around over $150.00 invested.
Also, like the new Gasolines...I don't think Watts are graded the same today because it seems the 50 WPC unit I replaced had more BOTTOM than this Unit.
Adult Child Of the 70's...Vinyl Forever!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars modern-day stereo mediocrity, July 10, 2003
This review is from: Sherwood RX-4100 Stereo Receiver (Electronics)
Sound quality okay; generally clean good for background music and ambient audio when hooked up to video system. Power good, but lack of decent tone controls limits musical enjoyment, however. Typical of many new-age units, the lack of [meaningful] bass/treble controls make it hard to tailor the sound to any environment. There are only five settings each, and they provide minimum boost over a very limited spectrum. This is why they invented equalizers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Power, almost zero distortion, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Sherwood RX-4100 Stereo Receiver (Electronics)
I have owned this receiver for over a year since i burned my old JVC out. I have two brand new Cerwin Vega V-series speakers with 12" woofers that i use daily, i can power both of these speakers to maximum power before the speaker "maxes out" with this Reciever giving off very little heat. also a the reciver is great at shutting itself off if the wires short, something that can destroy other receivers. The one warning i have, that is not a reflection on the receiver, is that if you have a subwoofer (even the powered ones draw off the receiver) then it could cause the receiver to get very hot
