I bought mine at Buy.com for $176, and the retail price is $340. As a CD player it sounds better than my TEAC CD recorder and my Sony DVD player (CDP-NS725). The Sherwood also has many features and a good remote. I have been into audio since the mid 70s and worked at a local stereo store in New Orleans during most of the 80s. This CD player is a steal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bang for Buck!, August 18, 2005
This review is from: Sherwood Single CD Player with dual 20-bit Digital-to-Analog Converters (Electronics)
How good is this unit? The store I bought it from stopped selling it because it made several of their much more expensive models sound bad. I'm talking $700+ to $2000+ cd player direct, double blind comparisons. And this wasn't merely my opinion, but that of several other people that I know. They too were shocked! There was so little difference between this and a Krell (@$2500!) that it was ludicrous. This is the absolute steal of all cd players. You can't do better than this until you hit the much higher sampling rates of DVDA or SACD, which are simply superior formats.
