Crow dedicates the set-closing rocker "Mississippi" to Bob Dylan, and even if a few favored hits are not included, this remains a noteworthy performance. Camera coverage is slick and editing tight, and while VHS viewers will likely be satisfied, the DTS DVD is mildly problematic, failing to achieve the "you-are-there" dynamics that videophiles have a right to expect. Fortunately, the concert itself is not compromised; the recording is crisp and carefully mixed. Crow no doubt had more lively gigs during this particular tour, but with an accommodating stage and a first-rate band in good spirits, this was a pretty good night to have the cameras around. --Jeff Shannon

Good Buy, Good Sound.,

This review is from: Sheryl Crow - Rockin' the Globe Live - DTS (DVD)
I very much enjoyed this DVD. I was apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews. I listened to both the DD 5.1 and the DTS audio (both of which are included on this disk) and I will admit the DD 5.1 sounded a little thin compared to the DTS. The DTS sounded excellent, however. Other reviews try and compare this to the Eagles Hell Freezes Over DVD, I don't think that is a reasonable comparison. The Eagles uses a much more aggressive 5.1 mix while this show uses a more conservative mix. The DTS sound on this disk is deep and rich and uses the front 3 channels quite well; the rear channels are used primarily for reverb effect. The DD 5.1 did sound a little thin and lacked the bass response of the DTS.Overall, if you like Sheryl Crow you should get this disk. If you are looking for a special effects laden aggressive mix that has the guitar coming out of the rear left channel and the backing singers out of the rear right channel while the vocals whip across the front three channels this is not for you.

Great Concert DVD, But DTS Lacking,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sheryl Crow - Rockin' the Globe Live - DTS (DVD)
As a huge Sheryl Crow fan, I bought this DVD on release day. I really enjoyed the disc - the concert was excellent. Sheryl rocked (as always), and the video shots and camera angles were very well done (there are some nice shots of people in the crowd up front singing along with Sheryl). My only disappointment was with the DTS audio track. While it sounded good, it just didn't seem to take full advantage of DTS. I may be spoiled by other DTS DVD concert titles I have (most notably, Hell Freezes Over by the Eagles - an incredible example of DTS surround sound), but the sound stage on this DTS DVD seemed a bit flat to me. That was the only reason I gave this DVD 4 stars instead of five. Still, all in all, an excellent DVD that I am very glad I purchased.

Low Frills,

This review is from: Sheryl Crow - Rockin' the Globe Live - DTS (DVD)
While I am a big Sheryl Crow fan, I was disappointed in the absence of extras that make DVD so enjoyable. Though I am not as much of a fan of Sarah McClachlan, the producers of "Rockin' the Globe" could take a lesson from the "Mirrorball" folks, who absolutely packed that DVD to the gills. If you're simply a fan of Crow's music, this will certainly satisfy. If you're looking for a little more bang for your DVD buck then you're sure to be disappointed.
