5.0 out of 5 stars Somegirl-She's Full Of Secrets
Like synthpop? If you do, you'll like Somegirl. This is their second release, following 'I've Been Known To Be Completely Wrong'. Gone is the vocalist from that album, replaced by the entrancing Anada. She has a delightful voice, full of expression, wide range, and connects with every track here. From the wistful longing of 'Feel Free', the album's first track, to the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Uninspiring Music
I bought this based on a Somegirl song I'd heard titled, 'Morning' which I really enjoyed. This CD came with far more simplistic, uninspiring songs that sound far too similar to each other to really distinguish. It's almost like one long, soft electronica session. For those who like such sounds, great. If you're looking for even a single really enjoyable song that...

From the wistful longing of 'Feel Free', the album's first track, to the I'm-barely-hanging-on controlled insanity of 'Average Day Bride' through the endlessly seductive 'Play, Sugar, Play' she makes the songs her own. And the music is up to snuff also, swirling synth at moderate tempo, for the most part. The one slow song here is a remake of the classic 'I Only Have Eyes For You' and Somegirl does the song justice. I have to comment on the recording: the sound is superior, very open, and the vocals come through very clearly. I can't praise the album enough, highly recommended. Oh, if you feel like picking up the first album, be warned that the singer there had a very different style that might put you off--but the music is equally good.
