More About the Author

Nicole Unice is a fresh voice for the next generation. Part bible teacher, part ministry leader, part busy mom-Nicole has the uncanny ability to relate to people in all ages and stages of life with her "keeping it real" approach to ordering a life around God's word.

Nicole's teaching reaches wide, both as a writer and speaker. Her first book, She's Got Issues, released May 2012 and speaks to a fundamental question of faith: is Being a Christian supposed to change me? The book is followed by a DVD Group Experience, a six-week journey of interviews, questions and teaching around the book.

Nicole's invitations to speak have taken her across the country to conferences and women's retreats, big and small. Her heart belongs to Hope Church, where she serves as a ministry associate, directing a full-time residency program called Praxis and supporting the mission and vision of Hope. You can catch her podcasting every Tuesday with senior pastor David Dwight, where they spend 15 minutes talking about "God's truth and modern life" and laughing about all kinds of other things. David and Nicole have co-authored a new book called "Start Here: Beginning a Relationship with Jesus", which releases in April 2014.

Nicole received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of William and Mary and her masters in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She loves creating a space for ministry and spiritual formation in the everyday rhythms of life with her awesome husband Dave, their three young children, and a mischievous puppy named Shep. Nicole is known for making friends in all corners of the world-especially via social media. So connect with her on her Facebook page or via Twitter-and hopefully face to face at one of her upcoming events.

The women who have been coming on Tuesday evenings are warm, fun, and faith-filled. They are also insecure, controlling, fearful and angry. Basically, they're just like you.

Following the guidelines of Nicole Unice's new DVD group experience based on her book She's Got Issues, we've been meeting to talk, eat some food, watch a teaching clip and share our hearts.
Of course, I love taking time to interact with women, {I also love the excuse to bake yummy treats and light a few candles.} but my favorite part about this experience has been that the book and the teachings are so, so good and so, so applicable.

Each week there is something heart-grabbing that stops me in my tracks and gives me an "ah-ha" moment. Something that sends me searching through scripture and underlining or scribbling notes.

Complete with quizzes to help you understand your weak points, teaching to direct you back to what God would say, printable journaling prompts and a great clip just for leaders- the DVD experience of She's Got Issues has everything you need for a successful group study.

In the introduction Nicole takes time to explain how the book came to be and to give a little glimpse into her personal walk with God. It's a beautiful story and so full of grace that it makes you hungry for more.

Even if you can't do a group study, the DVD is a wonderful tool for personal use.

I received this book and DVD from Tyndale Publishers in exchange
for my honest review.

I'm such a fan of Nicole Unice and this book. I love her honesty and her frankness and her willingness to make it okay to talk about our issues (after all: we all got 'em!). This is a great resources for the times we get tangled up in those issues. Very freeing and very empowering.

While the title alone brings an instant sense of connection and recognition, Nicole Unice takes women of all ages well beyond the world of "self-help" books. Unice invites the reader to have the courage to recognize those things that have left us with a life of inward frustration and longing for more - all while keeping an appearance of "me...what issues?" She guides us with a biblical and theological depth to a place of hope and engagement for God's transforming work in our lives for His purposes. "She Has Issues" is a book to be shared with every friend because we are all on the same journey.

If the number of paragraphs I highlighted in this book is any indication... then I have a lot of issues!!

I was lucky enough to receive a pre-release copy of "She's Got Issues." SO GOOD. I loved Nicole's writing voice; she is so authentic and hilarious. But she also offers discerning insight into my heart. She is honest with her own issues, and fills the chapters with truth from Scripture.

I often feel that I'm supposed to be some perfect "woman of God," and then I get discouraged that I can't seem to muster up the energy to be that.

"She's Got Issues" is freeing instead of discouraging. It helped me own my issues (you have them too!) instead of pretending they don't exist. And in that honest place, to trust Jesus to bring freedom in these "little" areas of my life that have burdened me for years.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. Read it, ladies!

This book was so enjoyable. I loved the message, the layout and the feeling it left me with upon completing it. Many things in our busy lives keep us from enjoying the life God plans for us. It's up to us to search within ourselves, and within the scriptures, and allow Him to shape our character.

I especially enjoyed chapter 3 (I'M NOT CONTROLLING I JUST LIKE MY LATTE EXTRA HOT) I can be a control freak at times, but even though I like things a particular way, I know that God is ultimately in control and I trust him over my own judgment. Reading this chapter (and book) gave me gentle nudges to remind me what I lack and what I've been blessed with. It is God who transforms us, so we need to keep him close in mind and heart.

Closing the chapters with prayers, journal exercises, and group discussion questions is an added bonus. The prayers have a simple, conversational tone, I LOVED the journal exercises, and though I didn't read this book with a group, the discussion questions are fitting for individuals as well.

Whatever your issue(s), if you're stressed out, overwhelmed, or simply taking a breather to redirect your path, this book is for you.

What woman doesn't have "issues" these days? And, what woman doesn't love to chat about her issues with her girlfriends? Nicole Unice is the perfect girlfriend to hash out issues like insecurity or anger with. Her authentic style will captivate readers as she shares very personal examples of her own issues as well as hard hitting stories from her experience as a professional counselor. She's Got Issues encouraged me to get real about my stuff through poignant Biblical truth and will bring readers from an "ordinary" life to a fully abundant life.
