He discovers that Jen is currently engaged in a battle with her crazy aunts Ivy and Ida Mae. Mike gives her a ride, but after dropping her off, he can't get her out of his mind.

Mike is a New York City detective. Jen writes self-help books for women. Mike doesn't want anyone unpredictable or unstable in his life and Jen's crazy antics make her the type of woman he wants to avoid, but he can't seem to stay away from her. Jen may not want a protector, but she does want Mike. Even with one mystery after another surrounding them, Jen and Mike's romance may be too hot to stop.

She's No Angel takes an incredibly sexy guy and a tough, beautiful woman and combines their sexy romance with some zany family members and a few mysteries. She's No Angel is an entertaining, suspenseful and fun story. Here Comes Trouble told the story of Max Taylor, and She's No Angel is Mike's. There's one Taylor brother left, and I would love to read about the mysterious and adventurous Morgan Taylor!

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining contemporary romantic suspense, July 6, 2007
Trouble, Pennsylvania town owner wealthy octogenarian Mortimer Potts loves his grandsons, but is particularly concerned that Michael is becoming cold due to his work as a New York City police officer. He thinks Mike needs a woman who will warm him up when the job turns unbearable. He selects author Jennifer Feeney in spite of her damaged ancestry; her aunts are the eccentrically crazy Ida Mae and Ivy.

When Mike comes to see his grandfather, he "accidentally" meets Jennifer, who is in town from New York visiting family. Sparks fly between them and continues to ignite even when they return to the city. As a stalker harasses Jen, Mike tries to keep her safe even as they become lovers. However, although she loves her protective cop, she wonders how a relationship can last between a macho take charge cop and an unfettered writer.

From the moment they meet when she tries to hit him with a tire iron and he knew he found trouble in Trouble, readers are hooked. The story line is fast-paced as Mike falls in love while rescuing his beloved several times and becoming embroiled in her lunatic aunts' "ancient history" homicide mystery. As with HERE COMES TROUBLE, the cast is eccentric, the romance is fun and the whodunit is delightful as Leslie Kelly provides an entertaining contemporary romantic suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome Back to Trouble!, June 21, 2007
It's just another uneventful visit to Trouble to see his grandfather for Mike Taylor until he spies a pretty lady walking on the road in the middle of nowhere. She's barefoot and carrying a tire iron, and though the cop in Mike is cautious, the curiosity about her wins out. Mike believes his trip just got a little brighter until he learns who she is - Jennifer Feeney - and she's the niece of the wacky Feeney ladies, Ivy and Ida Mae.

Jen only suggested to her aunts that they check out a retirement center. She didn't expect they'd make her life hell by dumping her off on the side of the road. Well, she can handle her relatives. Too bad the same can't be said about Mike Taylor. Oh, he's nice and friendly, but he clearly doesn't like her aunts and he'll be put off by Jen when he finds out she's the sarcastic author of the bestselling "hate all men" books. But wouldn't you know it? The two unlikeliest people to get together seem to always end up in the same place, with Mike generally rescuing Jen. Is it fate, or the matchmaking shenanigans of someone in Trouble?

Several months ago, Jen's aunts kidnapped Mike's grandfather, Mortimer Potts. Though Mortimer didn't suffer any lasting effects, the women are a force to be reckoned with in Trouble. Ivy and Ida Mae don't want to be forced out of their homes by Jen, who only thought she was doing them a favor. Despite all the problems she's having with her aunts, Jen can't help her attraction to Mike, but is afraid that her male bashing books will ruin any romance. Mike is still recovering from a shooting that has left him wary of romance. Two people not looking for love can't possibly fall in love, right?

SHE'S NO ANGEL is the sequel to HERE COMES TROUBLE and what a wonderful follow up it is. Mix in a little suspense - who is making threatening calls to Jen. Throw in a little history - did Aunt Ivy have more to do with her late husband's death than she let's on? Will the real truth ever be found out? It all adds up to a highly entertaining tale that will keep readers turning the page to see what happens next. Two people honor bound by family ties have to get it all sorted out before they can take the next step to happiness. With several threads going on throughout SHE'S NO ANGEL, you can't help but wonder how they all tie in...but they do.

Leslie Kelly has deftly mixed comedy, suspense, and romance in a purely enjoyable story that's sure to please readers. Welcome back to Trouble. You may not want to leave.

3.0 out of 5 stars took me awhile..., September 2, 2007

but I got into this book. first part was a little bogged in backstory. I really liked the opening with the cop meeting the angry brunette with the tire iron, but there was an infusion on information in the first ch that I'd have preferred learning later. I hung in there though and was glad I did. the characters were funny and different, and I loved the chemistry between the hero and heroine. I do however agree with the one reviewer who said there were too many secondary storylines. Im still trying to figure out why the elderly butler's love story was in there at all. wish they'd given her a better cover. I wouldn't have picked this one up in a store because of it, but bought it because of a friend's recommendation.

Bottom line, great chemistry between hero and heroine, funny dialogue. A bit cluttered, but worth my time. I'll be reading more of her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked by the 1st sentence !!!!, August 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Leslie Kelly hooked me on the first sentence and by the end of the page I was reeled in. I loved Jennifer Feeney and Mike Taylor as soon as I met them and it only got better as their characters unfolded. I thought it was hilarious that this smart, determined woman kept getting outwitted by two old ladies who didn't seem to any wits between them. And Mike Taylor was the perfect "I'm going to protect you whether you like it or not" cop because he knew just what he could get away with when it came to Jenn and what he couldn't.

The sub-plots were delightful (the one with the butler and the spinster was especially heartwarming) and trying to figure out Aunt Ivy's secret kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read them. (Well, I confess that I slowed down during those steamy love scenes.)

Leslie Kelly's characters jump to life instantly and her plot had just enough twists and turns to keep me wondering without giving anything away. And she has a particular talent with the one-liners which are guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.

Thanks, Leslie Kelly, for the wonderful read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Go get yourself into some Trouble, June 30, 2007

(REAL NAME)
Quick summary:
I loved this! Great characters--an especially yummy hero and a smart, interesting heroine, wonderful supporting cast; great story--involving plot, good pacing, excellent tension between the protagonists... humor and romance balance well with an engrossing story. Overall, a well-written, nicely balanced romance. What's not to like??

More details:
She's No Angel was a pleasure to read--I would have said guilty pleasure, but I don't have anything to feel guilty about! Guilty pleasure somehow implies that there's something embarrassing or not-good-for you about what you've consumed, but She's No Angel is well-written with an interesting plot and strong, likeable main characters and a whole host of entertaining supporting characters to meet and follow. It's simply a good read!

She's No Angel is Ms. Kelly's fourth story set in the town of Trouble, Pennsylvania, and have characters that appear in all of them so that as you read, it feels a bit like you're getting to know these small-town folks. (But you don't need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one completely.) The "man behind the curtain" is the incredibly wealthy Mortimer Potts, who's recently bought most of Trouble and is trying to get this forsaken town back on its feet. He's dabbling in matchmaking, too...

I loved She's No Angel--Ms. Kelly's created some incredibly likeable characters who are engaging from the very first pages. Of course Jennifer Feeney and Mike Taylor are gorgeous and funny and sexy and really smart, but they're also people I wouldn't mind actually knowing as friends. And though some of the plot details are out the realm of my mundane existence (for instance, I don't have any experience with being drop-dead gorgeous, writing best-sellers, or spending time with multi-millionaires), so much of what is at the core is stuff I can completely relate to--the mixed feelings for family members who you cannot choose, the delicate balancing act that interacting with said relatives can be, the need to be needed and loved--Ms. Kelly articulates all these and more so well and pulls together a terrific and absorbing story.

I'm not sure there's much more to be said except go out and get Ms Kelly's books and get into some Trouble! You'll only be sorry if you don't!

5.0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor and get this book, it's great fun!, June 28, 2007
By
From the moment NYC cop Mike Taylor meets author Jennifer Feeney, there's never a dull moment. Not in a slapstick kind of way, but there's an unmistakable attraction right off the bat, and clever banter that will make you smile - repeatedly. Mike is in Trouble, PA to visit his aging grandfather when he runs into Jen walking alongside the road, barefoot and wielding a tire-iron, muttering something about murdering her two aunts. After he rescues her from the side of the road again the next day after another episode with her nutty aunts, and then the two are thrown together at a dinner party soon after, it's clear (this is a romance, after all) that the two are going to hook up. When Mike learns that Jen has been threatened, seemingly by an unhappy reader, he quickly steps in to keep her safe. Mike's grandfather is a fun-loving, worldly old guy who seems to have an endless array of matchmaking skills up his sleeve. Between the grandfather and his British butler, Jen's two aunts and a mysterious murder looming from their past, and a side romance that is just too sweet, the secondary characters are a colorful addition to Mike and Jen's romance, serving to round out a very entertaining book. Fun quips from Jen's "books" open each chapter and I found myself looking forward to them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Kelly's best, November 20, 2011
By
wellreadwoman (Washington, DC USA) - See all my reviews
I've read several other romances by Leslie Kelly and loved her sense of humor, great dialogue and the fabulous chemistry and sex scenes. In contrast, She's No Angel felt completely flat and was a huge disappointment. The main characters were incredibly boring and somewhat unlikeable. In lieu of building actual chemistry and romantic tension, Kelly decided to tell not show--as though saying over and over again that they were attracted to one another would make it believable. They meet and instantly start rambling about how hot the other was for no real reason. It was silly.

The secondary storylines were much more interesting...but I've enjoyed the wacky residents of Trouble in her other books, but here they just felt like caricatures. Their behavior was totally over-the-top and so ridiculous that it kept pulling me out of the story. I gave up 2/3 into the book once I moved from just bored to angry and bored. I really liked the other Kelly books I've read so I'll probably try again but this was not worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love, Lust and Kooky Old Biddies in Trouble! (B Grade), September 14, 2007
This is a true loopy out of control wacky story that will have you chuckling till the last page. There is everything but the kitchen sink here. The title doesn't really make sense to this small town tale, but otherwise it was very enjoyable, especially when reading about Jennifer's crazy old aunts and Mike's grandfather and his best friend. Kelly has a very original storyline that showcases the older sect who are in retirement but act like their younger relations in their thinking and especially their thoughts about sex! (Don't worry, you won't cringe)
Jennifer is your typical Sex in the City type of gal. She writes book about how bad men are and Mike is a cop in the NYPD. When they visit their extended family in Trouble, Penn (Yes, a nice play on words with the town name!) these two are in for quite a ride! Both instantly are attracted to each other and want the no flings sex, but hey, they both got issues and with their older family members- revenge seeking aunties and horny old gramps, they hardly get the chance to have some nice hands on hands action. But things come to a head when Jennifer's life is in danger and Mike becomes her protector with very sexy and suprising results.
Leslie Kelly has written about Trouble before and about Mike's family in the past. Basically it all comes down to caring for family even though they are annoying and you may want to kill them half the time. Jennifer's Aunt Ivy has her own 50 year old mystery and Roderick, Grampa Mort's friend has a nice slow yet sweet romance with Emily, also a retired woman who wants romance and love even though she has never had it before except to read about it or watch it in movies.
What else can this be called except a loopy roller-coaster of a ride in a small town called Trouble. Find your non stop troubles here from mayhem, secrets and of course some nice hot sex!

5.0 out of 5 stars She's No Angel is devilishly good!, August 26, 2007
Leslie Kelly is back in Trouble...Trouble, Pennsylvania that is. :)

Writer, Jennifer Feeney has just about had it with her two eccentric aunts, Ivy and Ida Mae. Leaving Jen on the side of the road five miles out of town, barefoot no less and carrying only a tire iron should be the final straw in their family battle. Luckily, she's about to meet a hero.

New York cop, Mike Taylor, on his way to visit his grandfather Mortimer Potts in Trouble happens to spot an angry Jennifer strolling along the dusty road. After a bad ending to his last love affair, he isn't looking for romance. However, offering Jen a ride into town is only the first step his descent right into love with her.

I adored this book. Once I started, I couldn't put it down until the final wonderful page.
Do yourself a favor and get a copy of She's No Angel today.
Thanks for another wonderful day in Trouble, Leslie.
